Started this. Playing with Japanese voices but the combination of the clearly English-timed lip sync and the gap between the Japanese I’m hearing and the English I’m reading is kinda disorienting. May switch to English. Hope the voice acting is ok.

yoshi p recommended japanese players play in english on a 2nd playthrough because there’s no lip sync for japanese voices at all a few days ago

there are a lot of little touches in place (the save file icons, for example) that are poised to make me feel this way, but aside from the nods to the past, i’m about 3-4 hours into the game and this is the most SNES-feeling 3D Final Fantasy i think i’ve played. even though the story has made the jump from implied bad words and representations of fucking to plain-faced versions of these, so far the story doesn’t feel out of place within the FFIV-VI era.
i feel like every time a new FF comes out people (not here) are like “whooaaaa is this really a FF game??” and every time it comes out and we all play it, the answer is always “yes.” even moreso with this one - like in spite of the new things they are trying, i am acutely aware that i am playing a Final Fantasy game

Was not expecting Benedikta to turn into Devil Man’s Demon Bird, but I will miss the way her nose twists when she gets angry
yeah I’m still waiting for my copy to arrive but the demo had me earnestly saying “final fantasy is back baby”

playing this with the french dub (after comparing all of the available options in the demo) and having a great time with it, although I have barely scraped by in two major battles recently.
Also, wasting way too much time in photo mode!

And best bit its, almost all of them are from angles you’ll never see if you don’t put in some effort and fvxk around in photo mode. The only thing missing are a few more options for picture control, but let’s not get too greedy, still having as great a time with it like i did with the Star Ocean 5 emotes
