Be it rain or snow the Skullgirls must keep going through. Hope all of you can stop being dealt less shitty hands now!
Thanks, Ymer! I hope so too!
Oh yeah, for people playing the Skullgirls Beta, if you have any thoughts or feedback about Annie or other characters changes, post 'em here! I’d love to hear it and can redirect it to people involved.
7 was Chizuru.
How is Mortal Kombat better about letting characters age and change than KoF?
Watching my friends age irl is depressing, videogames are supposed to be an escape

if only I had thought to preserve my character’s image, I wouldn’t be turning 30 this year
After 30, you stop keeping track🙆🙆♀️
30 is The King of Fighters ‘95 of ages.
feel similarly but the opposite. seeing characters aging in videogames, tv-series, whatever helps me accept the same going on with me and around me. it gets less depressing when it starts to feel normal. i’d love seeing kof characters age and have parts of their character and image grow with that.
What gets me is watching the Simpsons stay the same but seeing a widescreen tv in their living room…makes my skin crawl
I keep forgetting my age at 26, I’ve been assuming it was 27 and the other day I thought I was 28. I don’t think my age matters as much as if I can pop a squat or crouch like a fighting game character
We really need a new Fatal Fury already.
yeah tbh i was really enjoying the trend of SFIII and MotW where we were seeing these characters age, but i guess they figured out that most fans are chuds who will scream if they replace the old characters with a “new generation” and so now we’re stuck in this forever loop of never-aging fighting game characters.
it sucks! because part of what drew me into KoF to begin with was how the characters seemed to have interiority and like, knew each other and had interpersonal relationships that spanned amounts of time
edit: maybe this is overly harsh lol. i get that people have fav characters that they spend time learning, but i do wish there was more of an ability to let things go and allows these games and characters to evolve more radically
one day there will be a cool new fighting game but probably not in my lifetime
I feel MotW did a better job of making a new generation because all of them had connections to the previous and let you make your own inferences about the old guard. Mai and Andy are teaching new ninjas thus Hokotumaru is jumping around. Kushunood/Marco is a student of Ryo so you can hope the Kyokugenryu dojo is doing well. Kim’s sons are there kicking around. Through those characters you could feel alot of the old characters spirit.
SF3 was mostly a lot of new weirdos with dubious ties at best to the old crew. It was a very different tone and spirit that took a while to get massaged in.
i think this is true and i’m admittedly just sort of a weirdo who was down to go wherever Capcom was taking us. to me it was cool to see something that diverged so much from expectations. like we still had the Alpha series etc.
Ugh and then they never really rounded out that initial SF3 cast and just threw in more weirdos (most visually, Makoto mechanically) and the most obnoxious version of Chun Li
I mean I like the 2I roster more than 3S’s but that’s just me 🤷
My view is skewed for not being part of the arcade scene and mostly formed going through the various collections and emulations after SF4 started spreading sparks. SF3 felt a few jumps to far while bearing the Street Fighter name. That’s going to bring alot of weight with it that people are gonna have some built up expectations of.
SF was mostly defined by its broad cultural cartoon stereotypes and SF3 was still culturally broad but the characters were much more acquired tastes.
Under Night is right there.
