Fatigued Souls (Part 1)

That it is! I’m just saying the setting makes it look like you’re running through an empty anime convention building as a cosplayer because you’re inextricably this person with a wooden shield in a modern building (at the start of the game). This may or may not be to your liking!

I mean I’m sure it’s explained in the game and I just don’t know from the little I’ve seen, just thought it was funny

oh the game looks cool i was literally just doing this bit. elementary school humor

I mean, it looks “cool” in the sense that it tries to emulate the art style and interactive world design of a souls game with the budget and direction of a lesser known developer and that’s exactly what I would do given the resources, so it looks like something I’d enjoy playing.

The age mechanic looks like it would freak me the fuck out and give me an existential breakdown, but it also looks like it would be extremely funny on a regular basis to be like, “Ah, fuck, I’m old. I’m afflicted with oldness.”

It is a debuff we all gotta deal with.

Remember how our bodies rotted worse and worse the more we died in Dark Souls 2?

reminds me about the completely optional darksign and hollowing feature in DS3 if you wanted to look like a DS1 undead AND an ash person.

it was basically 5 free level ups if you were okay with looking like that

i’ll always appreciate the first time i carefully sculpted my player character in DS1 only to actually start the game looking like a hunk of beef jerky

i liked the slow hollow rot in DS2 a lot it felt like a good compromise from the demons souls soul/body system because it’s not as punishing and is thematically very cool and fitting

Also since it feels semi relevant i want to give a shout-out to the literal “old” status effect from Sekiro that the flute nobles use on him. he leans on his sword like a cane! it’s the best deadly status effect From’s come up with imo

I actually like how this cat is just a normal cat whereas Alvina is some fucked up demon

Wasn’t the lore something like how all cats who grow old enough just gain the ability to talk and then start to roam the lands?

After ranting about Bloodborne in the latest bracket I think I might actually be excited to go back and give Scholar of the First Sin a try. I never revisited 2 because I jumped on the bandwagon of hate back when it came out but I think I might actually like Bloodborne less than 2 and now I suddenly want to replay 2.

the big thing about dark souls 2 is that double caestus is totally viable and cool

dks2 is still fun and weird just a) relish the world layout instead of expecting it to make any sense at all and b) do not play a magic+melee hybrid unless you want the dlc to be a complete fucking nightmare

2 is probably the easiest one to fuck around and try different characters in because of how generous it is with respeccing

and fwiw i didn’t grow to love 2 until i played scholar, which i think is 90% a straight-up improvement on the original

Double caestus are not only viable but arguably the best weapon in the game too

At one point I tried to finish DS2 without dying and they were very clearly the best weapon for the job. Punching with 50 strength is somehow less risky than using magic

DS2 also made whips usable! I love DS2

I feel like the Souls world is a perfect place for cats to just continue to chill and be cats.

feel like ideal DS2 is scholar, but played on PC in 720p. too much resolution makes it feel weird and barren

yeah, my rule of thumb with 3D is no more than 200% upscale from intended resolution. A lot of times bumping it reveals a lot of the texture art that was hidden at the original spec, but higher and you can feel environment artists getting itchy because they need more props in the scene
