wake the fuck up babes it’s 2009 and Capcom is releasing a new game on the PS3!
come on that music choice is so good omg
EDF x Warframe x Monster Hunter = game designed specifically to consume all my time/money!
there’s a beta available for the next week, so i’m going to give that a try and report back (i did manage to get into the first closed beta a month ago, but the game hard crashed on my machine ). fingers crossed it’s actually as cool as it looks.
right??? i feel like i’m going crazy every time i show this to someone and they’re like “uh-huh, idk seems whatever” like dude it’s god damn Capcom dinosaur EDF like ???
I played 3 games earlier and the PvP element didn’t seem all that great, really felt more like a MOBA than EDF, like you shoot up all those creeps and maybe you’re doing it fast enough it’ll hinder the opposing team?? Then at the end you play payload or some other shit to determine the winner?? It’s very odd and maybe with time I could start to dig it but first impression was confusing and unsatisfying even though blowing up dinosaurs was nice.
yeah it’s a god damn overwatch type this was not clear from any of the trailers lol. the dino killin is cool, and the pvp stuff seems competent, tho confusing. i think this would work better if the game split these modes clearly, rather than fusing them.
I’m on the fence on where I think the game is a good idea or not but it has certainly passed the test of making me want to buy action figures or models of the power suits. Capcom should just make a toyline and give the game another year figure out the game some more.
played more this morning and decided that it’s pretty good actually, even the pvp stuff. if i have 60 dollars layin around in june or whenever this comes out then i’ll prolly pick it up as my daily brainless wind-down game (although, i honestly don’t know why this isn’t f2p what with the premium season pass and all the other bullshit). but i am reeeeally hoping this ends up having a comprehensive co-op campaign (ccc).
also would a @moderators be able to split this into an exoprimal froth thread pls? just for the sake of cleanliness.
edit: thanks eska.
action game PvEvP modes (destiny 2 gambit, titanfall 2 bounty hunt) sit right on the edge of tolerable complexity but when i master shifting gears and coordinating roles i love them. puyo puyo vs shooter is my ideal multiplayer mode
five players is an ambitious team size considering how matchmaking tends to ruin these but they might slap the overwatch role queue bandaid on gamer misanthropy
I certainly don’t hate the idea but I feel it’d probably be smoother if it was two teams in closed off arenas fighting their own waves of dinos but their performance could influence or alter the other teams. Something akin to twinkle star sprites or VS puzzle games. I haven’t sat down to watch a streamer go through a whole game duration and seeing how it handles the different phases but I feel it would be jarring to go from videogame enemies where you can recognize patterns from and then going to human opponents that can now juke and read your movements making you switch gears pretty abruptly depending on skill gaps and player ability.
forgot to post this earlier but this was my last game before the beta went down
i don’t think i’ve ever got mvp in anything before (simply because i haven’t played games where that was a thing) so i was p pumped to get it in my last match, especially cos it looked for a long time like we were going to get trounced and i really felt like i helped.
I had a decent time with the beta. I definitely didn’t like the PvP at first (especially because the modes are confusing as fuck) but it grew on me as I learned them. I think I would definitely prefer separate modes though. I liked the big dino setpiece moments.
It’s going to be on GamePass so I’ll probably dick around in it with friends when it comes out.
this is the first game that has made me consider getting gamepass, i guess the pc subscription cos i don’t have an xbox and idk this game doesn’t feel super nice on controller (really highlights how much work has gone into apex’s controller support).
Acceleration and response curves are wildly different between most console FPSes. Halo feels different than Call of Duty feels different than Apex feels different than Overwatch.
Playing any one for a bit of time completely ruins my muscle memory for the others.
bit peeved about the announcement that this will have a paid battlepass on top of being a full-price game so i’m gonna ditch ps+ and pick up gamepass for the first time (is there a gamepass gems thread? if not i might make one for recs) so i can give it a go without bankrupting myself
shame that it comes out basically the day before i start back at work but if anyone’s down to clown on some dinos lmk.
edit: thank u dylan for pointing out that i’d mixed up gamepass and battlepass fuck sake brain
