Thanks, was meaning to get back into Tokyo Xanadu and there’s also the hard-to-recommend-because-very-weebhorny Akiba’s Strip that sort of feels like another Way of the Samurai in open-ended ragdolly combat and movement.

i always ignored akiba’s trip because i thought it was just another senren kagura, but if it’s a modern way of the samurai but also horny, that makes it much nore interesting
Maybe that was a bad comparison to make because really, other than combat and a certain similar gravity to moving your character around it otherwise doesn’t have much in common with those games besides being made by Acquire.
I’ve been thinking about this post for a while, and my conclusion is that EBA would be nightmare scenario if they just existed alongside existing intelligence agencies, but if the CIA/FBI/NSA/ICE/CBP/etc were instead replaced by a bunch of sexy male cheerleaders then (imo) American life and politics would be immeasurably improved.
Abolish cops, establish the EBA.

Disco Elysium/SH2 sitting at 54%-46%. Made it to the historical society in a fresh playthrough of SH2, going to roll a new character and see if I can pick the right dialogue and stumble through without listening to a phrenology screed.
This sums up all I wanted from a crpg
Will push onward, but that attempt lasted like 10 minutes before he/I gave into misanthropy.

Yeah, I liked looking at the locked doors/dead ends in those games as a sort of pacing mechanism forcing you to take in the environments more slowly but maybe if they were made today they would benefit from something like killer7’s on-rails minimalism.

Yeah it is borderline irresponsible to vote for outrun when outrun 2 is also in the bracket, unless you just hate fft.

I just finally looked at the overall bracket. katamari is the number 1 game? that seems pretty weird. it’s not weird in that everyone loves it, but I guess I’d never expect it to just show up on everyone’s list, assuming that’s how this thing was made.
quake vs streets of rage 2. have you no soul, select button? winner against mario 3? is this designed to punish me?

Have a feeling we’re going to end up with a Doom vs. Quake matchup I might not be able to recover from.
Ongoing events and a low-intensity but constant near-mid life crisis I’ve been going through reminded me of a need for a media bucket list, because there’s no way for me to know about all content that could have been my favorite ever, and this list, or future iterations of it, is probably going to be it for games. So even though this is mostly for fun, just reiterating it’s good this has taken place and people have posted a lot of compelling defenses of stuff.

it’s me, I hate fft.
will give it another shot someday if someone confirms it’s possible to make a party that can pass through the game without grinding, and that it’s possible to make such a party without having to look it up and without extensive experience with the game.
I just have a really bad experience trying to play it, and maybe it’s because I have a bad approach, but this is one of the most painful tactics games to play for me. what makes it suck is that it’s also one of the prettiest and best sounding tactics games ever made, and I’m into the depressing and awful stuff that goes on early in the game

As much as I regret the Link’s Awakening/Mirror’s Edge matchup I can’t help but feel bad for the DOTA2 fans. I guess toxicity really does trump a game’s positive qualities?
