Exo One did it in 3D, if what you are calling slope runner is what I’m thinking.
Surreal exoplanetary exploration game for PC. Pilot a spherical probe across enigmatic alien planets, desert worlds, gas giants and more. Teaser video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAiOrl4y5w8

Yeah! Although like the other games, it’s pared down to mostly just being a runner. I had trouble judging slope apexes in Exo One , I wonder what they could have done to improve that. But it felt like a demo scene toy made into a game and that’s something I’m glad to see more of.

I think of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat when I hear rhythm platforming, and the Gibbon game gives me VERY similar vibes. I’m into it.
Worth noting is that if one purchased the itch ukraine bundle they own a copy of Ynglet.

i’d like this sound aesthetic more if it was the music with high end cutoff and the sound effects were just loud and clashing on all frequencies like bangai-o

I was looking through the Square Enix sale on steam and saw that they’re releasing a very Japanese FMV game for $50. When’s the last time SE made an FMV game? I can’t find any info on it in English other that what SE’s press release and blog post from when it was announced in February.
Not sure if this staff means anything to anyone. I have no idea if they have any experience in this space.
Summary
Who’s making the game?
There’s a frankly astonishing array of talent working on The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story, from across the games and TV industries.
Just look at this lineup:
Koichiro Ito (Director) - Ito has lent his writing skills to some amazing games, including Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. He also worked on the game design of the psychological horror experience P.T.
Junichi Ehara (Producer) - Ehara began his career in the games industry in 2003, and joined Square Enix in 2016, working as a producer on titles including NieR:Automata and BABYLON’S FALL.
Yasuhito Tachibana (Film Producer and Scenario Director) - Tachibana served as a producer for the Netflix Original comedy period-drama The Naked Director. In 2018, he founded his own production company Nemeton, making shows including Oh my Jump! Shonen Jump Saves Earth and many more.
Yuki Hayashi (Composer) - Hayashi is best known for his work on TV dramas such as Your Turn to Kill (2019). He’s also credited in anime series My Hero Academia, and DRAGON QUEST: The Adventure of Dai (including the game series).
The game also has an impressive cast of actors, some of which play multiple roles across the different time periods, including Nanami Sakuraba (protagonist Haruka Kagami), Yuta Hiraoka, Gaku Sano, Yuta Hiraoka and more!

It’s strange to see a prestige Japanese game like this fall into the live service long-tail economy trap.
One time payout to appease everyone up to the nth percentile without hurting said long-tail is a classic, though
