honestly if you told me one of my hs students made this list i’d be like “ok fair”
if the only retro titles on the list are Nintendo ones, it really screams “born after the year 2000” to me

I hope the hate clicks on this pay for the investigative labor reporting
The weirdest thing about that IGN list is that I’ve already heard about every single game on it.
So many sequels it’s not so much a 100 best games list as it is a 20 best franchises list.
There should be a rule.
I had to do a double-take reading this because 2.6m is a fucking piss-shake splash of capital to sell out for. I guess it’s all setting the table for hitting the App Store and making that Real $$$; as of right now, it reads like signing over your soul for a Tercel.
i salute the imagine games network
i should be the only one allowed to make top 100 games or movies list. I am unbiased
top 100 games not published by Sega
the single most shocking thing about this list is that it had no pagination or didn’t make me use a carousel or something that fed me interstitial ads
I recognize a lot of the writers from stints on Retronauts so could carbon date half of them, particularly the Yoshi’s Island Blurb. Like all those N64 kids think Sega fans like Vectorman, and that the Genesis has somehow somehow been cutoff from them their whole lives. Then that transitioned into playing Splinter Cell on Xbox-Gears-PS3 for MGS4 then Uncharted.
I am hooting and howlering reading the blurbs. If I wanted a list I agreed with I’d write it.

My experience with working backwards through the Destiny 2 expansions when it first became free-to-play is that it was way too easy. It seems that it is now way too hard instead.
I think I might’ve actually preferred it this way, sounds like fun
I’ve definitely played this activity with new people but it sounds like there are too many to guarantee the greater part of six know what’s going on?
that list is amazing because it’s full of the most boring choices possible, yet somehow also arranged in the worst order possible. really a tour de force for IGN. they still got it.
The new/returning player experience for Destiny 2 since the seasonal model really became integral to the game has been absolutely atrocious over time and I really hope they make it less shit soon
like absolutely insane to put breath of the wild at #1 and ALSO link to the past at 4 and ALSO OOT at 34??
fucked up thing is in a vacuum I almost agree with those placements, relative to each other, absent of any other context. I kind of admire the skill with which this list dances on the line between mainstream respectability and hate click twitter bait. putting ff7 at 97 is a real chef’s kiss. comes out swingin’
Pitching Tina Amini on rescoring a certain late Dreamcast game review as the ultimate heel play
yeah on the one hand i’m aware enough of normie gamer brain that i probably could have named most of the hundred, but the order just kept bewildering me. are you telling me that portal 2 is not only not completely forgotten, it’s also the #3 game of all time???
yeah the portal 2 one was wild. that ain’t a thing, right? definitely did not expect to see disco elysium at 10 on a list that has portal 2 at 3, though.
I get the impression SB thinks Portal 2 is way worse than the first.
absolutely
Perfectly scaled to its ambitions, self-contained, fresh, vs. bloated, unclear what it wants to do, desperate to please. Portal 2 can be very entertaining but it can’t stand on its own legs.
