Found a Whip Sword… Best game of the year.
ash of war tip for strength builds (post-capital) that i wish i figured out sooner: equipping the bloody slash skill on a heavy enchanted sword also converts the skill to strength scaling. my +17 lordsworn sword is busting out 900(!!) damage bloody slashes with 40 strength
how’s faith in this? looking at the tree sentinel halberd for a second playthrough, or maybe going all in on magic
I was, and it usually bought me enough time to get one kill and then die to the accursed breath right after.
I can’t proceed with the assassination quests as the third one seems to be in an area I haven’t unlocked. So I’m poking around the capital for now with mimic ash and the laser beam just making bosses regret ever being born. Any tips on where to go? There’s a whole corner of the map that just isn’t obviously accessible at the moment but I think I’ve done everything else except for a half dozen or so of the most annoying trash dungeons (ugh putrid crystalians)
Climb up onto the giant fossil in the Capital, you’ll find a path starting from there
Ah haven’t seen that yet. Thanks! I’ll keep an eye out
want to nominate putrid crystalian trio as the worst boss fight from has ever produced: boring enemies who just spam the same attacks over and over, annoying rather than difficult. Even worse than the two crucible knights boss fight.
I think part of the burn out I’m feeling towards the game is having encountered so many of these trashy boss fights in a row.
It’s funny to me that the trashiest trash bosses (crypt o’ kitties and gembots) are also visually the laziest. They look like grandma knickknacks and discount kids’ action figures respectively and they have nearly no animation to speak of. I honestly suspect it might be a bit or some kind of commentary
those crypt cats are so creepy tho they are some of my favorite monsters in the whole game, but yes they are suspiciously without animation.
I actually love the cat gargoyles (not to fight, they suck, but aesthetically I love that they have 2 frames of animation, they feel like an hd remake of a king’s field monster)
hi thread.
I did this and accidentally killed a guy named Godfrey? He seemed important but also weak against swords and lasers
The real reason this game encourages binge play is because it freezes everytime it loads something into memory until you’ve been playing for an hour and a half. Turn the fucker off and prepare yourself for that whole song and dance again
Faith is ok, I’ve been faith the whole game. Did str/faith, then respeced to more or less pure faith eventually. Not many of the scaling incantations are very useful, but there are a whole lot of them, so you never run out of stuff to play with. There are some very broken faith weapons eventually, but that is also true of just about any build in this game. I would not recommend pure faith early in the game unless you just want to spam lightning spear. Most of the decent faith weapons require a good amount of other stats, and you only get like one ash of war that you can use to get faith scaling on regular weapons until you unlock the faith whetstones much later
a lot of dedicated builds in this aren’t great in the mid-game – making respecs relatively easy was in their interest, because it seems almost easier to use a really balanced build up until you’re level 80+ and you can dump 70 points into one stat
The amount of respecs in the mid-game is truly comical. I’ve used 4 and I think I have 8 left
there’s actually four ashes of war that I’ve found so far for faith characters
I am also playing a str/faith character and I definitely get ‘grass is greener’ vibes of all the int-scaling weapons in the game, versus the like… 4 faith-scaling weapons, where only the greatshield is especially broken.
My NPCs are dying off like they’re in an Agatha Christie novel. I don’t mind because they drop vouchers for their stuff.
