Elden Ring (Part 1)

Agreed, I was put off by the editing of the trailer, which I’m not a fan of, but all the other things you mentioned look great to me as well. As far as the GRRM influence, I don’t see anything that looks egregious to me.

My first thought was get that chainmail off my lips now.

I made a joke about being this being a Sackboy game, but the more that I think about it, I am increasingly believing that instead of being a zombie in this one you’re going to be a puppet.

Does this guy have medieval earbuds

I was informed today, by a prominent dark souls youtuber, that the horse has a double jump.

Does it have a wall jump?

at 1:35 in the trailer it looks like the horse does a shinespark

Had to look up shinespark because I’d never heard of it. This illustration I found is un-illuminating:

If we get a literal horse shinespark where you make the horse crouch to store it then I promise to buy 10 copies of this game

if ur horse can get killed im fuckin out

i’m hoping they saw all the glitchy horse shit in red dead redemption and said “let’s just normalise this”

i looked at the trailer and said “oh it’s Dark Souls”. i mean not that i don’t think people who like these games won’t buy another Dark Souls, but i don’t know if they were expecting it to be something other than Dark Souls. i mean i would want it to be something different if i were more invested i’d imagine, but long ago i lost my ability able to relate to or understand the expectations of the average consumer of videogame media.

also more like Elderly Ring

I was expecting dark souls with maybe one or three hyrule fields and that’s basically what the trailer implies I think.

I reckon I’d rather see them branch out a bit from usual souls template too, but I’m not really complaining if it’s just more of the same

i was also expecting that. seems likely that Bamco would have pushed hard for a dark souls 4, Miyazaki would have pushed back equally hard to let that series die, and as a result we get this gimmick compromise of a new not-dark-souls property but with GRRM’s name attached for extra visibility. guess i’m saying i don’t really think it was a match made in heaven.

the more i see of the combat physics the more convinced i am of this. may the whacking-swords-into-tree-trunks gamefeel reign supreme

Fast travel was in literally every from game since Demon’s Souls, so it would be weirder if this didn’t have it.
