Elden Ring 2

i hate the way this article is written and can’t be bothered to sus out how serious this is (meaning the “live show” part) but the tweets i’d been seeing from the band made me laugh so

I used moonveil and latenna and stayed close but not directly against him. I don’t think he did the teleport+clone move on me, or if he did I just got lucky… but apparently the “real” one is slightly darker than the rest, so hopefully that can help make that more manageable. it’s pretty effective to target his head with leaping strikes/guard counters/charged R2’s until he’s staggered. I’ve found that this works on most bosses that are large and not particularly fast. of course with moonveil, transient moonlight contributed that stagger as well and was effective from mid-range, but your build might have similar options.

staying relatively close is good though because if he does the swipe that leaves behind the delayed explosion clouds, you can actually roll into him to dodge them and it’s a great opportunity to punish and get some strong attacks in, and most of his basic melee attacks are easy to read. if you’re too far away you’re only option is to roll backwards and just wait, unless you have a good ranged attack at the ready. dashing also can work here too if you aren’t too low on stamina. his phase 2 requires knowing when to create distance to dodge the big meteor attack, but I’ve found that dash-strafing from a distance makes it a lot safer… you’ll probably still have to dodge specific hits, too. managing stamina can make that hard, but remember the trick where if you briefly crouch when dashing it restores a substantial amount of your stamina bar.

as far as the grab goes, I have found that as long as you can see it coming, you can dodge into it and get another punish in. be sure to err on dodging late rather than early though because the wind-up is lengthy. it’s easy to dodge as soon as you see him charging for it, but avoid that at all costs. and my strat when a boss does a teleport/surprise type move is to immediately lock off as soon as I see the tell, and start hightailing it in the other direction… with a teleport like this it can help to scan left and right as you’re doing this, which will give you a harder to read zig-zag motion and also increase the odds that you see him before he sees you.

this video also has some good specific advice… but if all else fails, maybe do more of the consecrated snowfield and the areas it opens up to get more levels under your belt. piling points into vigor is worth it at this stage in the game, because a lot of enemies will be one-shotting you if you don’t.

edit oops forgot to post video:

i’m at like 130+ with 40 vig, so

anyway, summoned a guy who just happened knew their shit and was able get crits in when i’d done enough rock spam to cause a stagger
it never got a chance to do the horrible multigrab thing hyuck hyuck

Is there a resource anywhere that estimates what the “intended” end level for Journey 1/start level for Journey 2 is? I started my second go a few days ago and everything is so easy I’ve been stomping across the Lands Between like an asshole putting guys to the sword without barely engaging with their mechanics. Started second run at 140 but it feels like they balanced the second run as if I was supposed to be closer to 100. Trying to figure out how long I should go without leveling up, haha.

Anyway, really enjoying this relaxed playthrough as it’s allowed me to see a lot of story stuff I missed without breaking a sweat over it haha

did you know that boss posture works like sekiro in that you inflict staggers by doing persistent damage?

Just beat astral last night about level 110? Mostly with magic and lots of running. The arena is so baig Id just GTFO if things weren’t going my way. The mimic really helped. I tried to manage my location to keep one of us on the bosses flank. Blast it with gravity and icy magic and then do run in run out.

Anyone else down with the frenzied flame? I am… but sort of by accident and not sure if Im into where this is going… I just wanted to talk damn it

B-side bosses are kinda fun but yeah. I wish this game had a boss rush mode.

i’m at that point in levelling up where i’m worried i won’t be able to summon any helpers if i go much higher, how is that working out in this game?

I’m not sure what the divider is but there definitely is one. I’m apparently overleveled for all the pools I’ve activated so far and it takes forever for me to get summoned now outside of people doing weird PVP situations.
