They are showcasing generative code in Unreal now. I get how this might help with having to write very repetitive stuff but the way theyāre pitching it here sounds like āget rid of your codersā

an upcoming feature for unreal is being able to seamlessly drop is as many voiced chatbots that sound like a boring Wheatly into your game as you like. But Iām sure itās fine and itāll just be used for placeholders, placeholders never make their way into the final version.

Checked out the Access-Ability Showcase and it was just okay. Mainly keeping an eye out for anything that would keep me tided over through recovery.
I liked Darzalās bit best at 15:40, particularly when looking at 6-Sided Stories. Thereās a lot of advocacy in this type of showcase but I like it most when itās balanced out by informative insight into the design. See 18:12 for a cool little demonstration of coding with Talon. Itās nice to see devs revealing how hard it is to develop games with disability alongside the features they put in for players. The most I felt personally seen since I have to work like this myself.
I do find some developers occasionally just describe an accessibility feature that is actually quite common to most games like having a text log of dialogue that was said or the ability to adjust volume levels of sound, music, or voice separately. Itās the equivalent in another showcase of saying āWelcome to [fantasy location name]ā which is an invitation to check out of all subsequent words.
Was also good to see that Bits and Bops is still coming soon.

Feels like heās trying to sculpt some sort of logical conclusion from looking at the top 10 steam games. The market is truly infallible and respects indies except when discoverability fucks most of them over so we should be thankful for SGF for offering paid slots/opportunities to kiss the ring. Mixing our messages right out the gate

i think some of it is them congratulating themselves for āhelping indiesā when theyāre just like one of the new big gatekeepers and/or kingmakers now (because getting in one of these streams does unfortunately help people tremendously)
