Except when a drugged out her box Liz Truss appeared in the Commons after hiding under her desk imo

I often ignore these things but I have had fun talking trash about with everyone in real time as it’s happening too.

Between this and Rehearsal S2, Bring me to Life is rife for a 2025 revival

idk the older I get the less hostile I am to spectacle for spectacle’s sake, like, I might feel differently if I had to get my ass dragged out to industry events to sit through them but I’m hardly offended by letting them blather on in the corner of my screen, it’s like a fun gag

I like both multitasking and surrealism. and I also like Being Told Things Are Going to Happen in the Future. I am rarely invested in them, but I still like being told about it.

I mean of course it’s like basically offensive because capitalism, but I’m not personally offended so much as bored. I simply cannot make myself listen to the minutes-long throatclearing before and after any morsel of any actual information or entertainment or interest that seems to be the defacto method of “public presentation” as refined to a dagger point by, I suppose, TV news. Instant soporific.

An analogous situation is a reality contest show like American Idol or what have you. Amateurs putting on performances are almost always captivating, but bookending each (incredibly truncated, as though the performances themselves are an annoying necessary obstacle in the way of the actual meat of the show) is this incredible amount of empty calories, little background featurettes on the performers, the douchebag judges prattling on about nothing - excruciating.

See also youtube video essays with the obligatory “hey guys welcome back to” intro sections (mercifully the new chapter function that breaks up the timeline allows me to instantly skip these now), streaming just in general, etc. So much l*rd so much empty air.

Editing is the divine art.

I think an important distinction between awards shows and like, youtube video essays (I don’t think I have ever watched a youtube video essay, I am profoundly hostile to this form of self-produced content) is the presence of camp, which I like almost as much as multitasking and surrealism

I don’t watch any of these video marathons, and don’t really care about trailers for games more than 6 months out, BUT I do like that we usually get all these video game release dates for the rest of the year all at once… I like filling out my 2025 games releases .txt file.
