Mudang Two Hearts gave me ‘prerendered E3 demo being passed off as actual gameplay’ vibes

it’s cutesy Come and See, brought to you by the company currently providing weapons to an active genocide

i’ve noticed that they’re really doubling down on the sort of Fallout-esque kitsch in many of these trailers - not just for this Fallout trailer lol

i like how they actively have to put “in game footage and not cinematics” in several of these trailers

you can tell it’s true for this girlboss Pokemon game with the cringey Katie Perry-esque trailer music because those framerates are definitely chugging

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 remake coming, this will make some people happy and others unhappy

now we’ve got pastoral celtic music with heavy amount of flute, this is the kind of music i want for game trailers

Spiritfarer devs doing a swordswoman metroidvania with what looks like an active time lore system.

Animation looks good, but kinda in the same way a lot of recent indie trailers do.

yeah actual game looks kinda whatever to me, i was just happy with the music tbh

my friend really hated that Spiritfarer game, i did not play it myself

not to be mean or whatever about this general sentiment because i agree generally but i also actually can’t tell much difference between this year and previous years

I’d say a major difference that supports that assessment is Microsoft have kind of just given up on being a distinct publisher. Like they are technically releasing new games from their studios but their first-party offering has been dead for a while and they have very few hits. Even when they do get a hit they sometimes just kill the studio. The vast majority of this showcase is multiplatform, Xbox just secured the right to say ‘this exists’. It feels very similar to the SGF show proper but with green text.
