kinda looking forward to how this is either gonna be the best dunc movie ever, and y’all feel like dorks who dunc’ed on this, or you can dunc on me who was foolishly believing in Villeneuve to make this work.

In best Beylade spirity i proclaim then:
LET IT DUNC

(already, common, pleaaase, pretty pleeaaasseeeeeeeeeeeeee… i’m starved for this, and all the logo talk makes me wanna watch this soon. )

you see the immense power of the Space Worm in the way it can hold its entire Space Butthole Mouth wide, yawning huge and symmetrical against its massive weight, even when almost fully surfaced

I guess that’s one way to make it look less like a colossal dick?

If that Pink Floyd cover plays at any point during the movie I’m going to close the 800mb camrip and destroy my record collection

WHY IS EVERYTHING TO DARK and only one color ever.

To accurately reflect what it looks like in the PNW right now, since dune started as an ecological survey of the Oregon coast.

whats the difference between this thread and the other dune thread? i dont want to merge them if they’re different but i dont know anything about dune and they look the same

two dune threads seems like an extravagance that wouldn’t have been permitted in rocket’s heyday just saying

This is the Dune thread made back in April whereas the other one in the axe was made today. Far as I can tell that’s the only difference but that doesn’t mean they should be merged! This is the start of a new Dune flowering. Roots have found purchase in the Dune desert of Select Button and soon there will be waves of Dune threads.

We might even need to start off with a book club thread if enough people are interested in reading the (first, original) Frank Herbert book before the movie. Followed up by general Dune threads featuring youtubes of old Frank Herbert interviews. And someday, maybe, Dune fan fiction?

The release of this trailer on this day was not lost on me

I guess I am kind of serious about the book thread idea. Does anyone want to read the book who hasn’t already? I’ve started it a few times but never finished it. Probably seen the David Lynch movie more times than I’ve started the book lol.

And Frank Herbert does give a good interview.

As someone who has enjoyed reading Dune every time I have read it, nobody needs to read Dune. It’s ideas on paper are not the same as the ideas as executed in the book, which is kind of a colonialist white savior narrative?

But if you do read Dune you 100% need to read Dune Messiah since it adds a lot to the original book, largely because it admits that Dune is that, unlike the first book, which is very much “White boy becomes prophesized leader of Bedouin codded desert tribe because he’s the genetic best”.

And a lot of the ecology elements are about destroying a native ecology for a different ecology according to the plan of a different space white dude who came before our main white folks?

As a trippy trash scifi book it can be fun, but it’s…well it’s got issues.

Two dune threads means I have to speculate that jodorowskys dune would have been a bad movie, while also defending villeneuve, twice as much

Or should I say I get to :money_mouth_face:
