Yeah, I’m not in the know enough to know who might be waiting in the wings. The only British people I know are Keith Flint and Sexy Spice.

I haven’t watched doctor who ever since their ‘space amazon is good, the system isn’t the problem, it’s the disgruntled workers who are the problem’ episode

I think that was still just like three episodes ago.

I was onboard for the halfway between Groundhog Day and Heaven Sent New Year special.

I couldn’t stand that sex education show or any of the Chibnall era in the end, so while I’d like to be enthusiastic about this, and I trust Davies, the show is basically a total blank to me at this point

we’ll see! good for him!

if not, it all ended with Heaven Sent in my headcanon anyhow

A comic adaption on Disney plus that includes the original artist in the credits?

ive been gently considering letting this show back into my heart now that Rusty Davies is coming back. i actually think getting David Teninch back to do some specials as “the 14th doctor” instead of the 10th is a cute way to get in some anniversary fanservice thats exactly in keeping with this shows silly malleable canon. and i miss him!! i didn’t actually like the 10th doctors steez at first – i had a “that’s not MY Doctor” reaction to him after getting into the show via Chris Eccleston – but he grew on me!! RTDs version of the show had plenty of its own issues but it was so campy in a way that perfectly fit the OG show. it is funny that him being brought back is an immediate tacit admission Chris Chibnalls version of DW was a fucking dud. (and i love that catherine tate is back too im sorry im so sorry im soo very not sorry i love the DoctorDonna)

i hated that Chibnall immediately sucked in all the ways i worried he would, especially after the late 12th Doctor stuff felt like it rebooted itself and came back weirder and cooler every season. because its Doctor Who im sure theres some niche good stuff in Jodie Whittaker’s latter seasons, and she’s great (the Doctor is never played by a shitty actor, they always rock). but the aggressively neolib bullshit up to and including that FUCKING space Amazon episode irritated the shit out of me. Doctor Who should at minimum be pretending like it’s an anarchist show, and at best be written by actual anarchists

Anyway itching to rewatch (most of) the New Series and some good ass Old Series serials like The Curse of Fenric and The Ribos Operation

AHHHH the Adherents of the Repeated Meme. I bring you, Air From My Lungs. huuuhhhhh

There hasn’t been a better Doctor before or since My Doctor is an overeducated working class goofball w/ immense trauma

New little short with David Tennant:

Also, shared this in Op/Intro/Ed/Credits Sequences that RIP - #136 by Mothra, it’s a cool concept intro for Ncuti Gatwa’s… 15th I guess? Doctor? If Tennant is apparently 14 now?:

Oh yeah Davies pointedly bringing back Davros and going “he’s just a Nazi now we’re not doing this ‘people in wheelchairs are scary’ shit anymore” is also a confidence booster

I can’t stand burnt toast. I loathe bus stations. Terrible places. full of lost luggage, and lost souls. And then theres unrequited love. And cruelty, and tyranny. we all have a universe of our own to face. ACE!!! IAM NOT AN ANIMALLLLL god i  7th Doc

The new episode was…fine. It felt like a very middle of the road Davies era episode. I kind of appreciate how comfy it is with being stupid.

Summary

I was actually shocked by how much the fake out of donna’s death actually kinda got to me. I was also amused by alluding to the dumb River song origin but actually less stupid.

Completely undermining the drama of a previous season finale for fan service does feel better when it’s undoing a really dumb plot point.

For as much as it felt like Well meaning Ally stuff most of the time the idea of saying that of course Rose is a time lord, because transitioning is a regeneration, was cute enough I cracked a smile. And not nothing in the current UK climate.

Completely inessential, but just enough good bits in there for me to watch the next one. It’s gonna have to do a lot for me to not check out though.

Also funny is how every detail of everything that happened between the last Davies season and now is pretty much completely ignored except for how the Doctor was a woman for a while.

The revived series has always sort of wiped the slate when a new head writer took over with some small exceptions (like Moffat’s River Song arc). I always liked that, since this series especially has never been one for slavish continuity.

one of the best TV friendships of all time imo

the absolute cutest thing about this show is how close the Doctor + companion actors frequently get IRL

by all accounts, Tom Baker was a real diva bitch when he was the 4th Doc, but he and Lis Sladen became ride or die besties and she could genuinely get him to shut up and chill out

Thank fuck they brought back the diamond logo why did they ever ditch it.
