Up to the second to last level! Level seven had a really neat gameplay hook (that seems exclusive to that level, unfortunately) that made playing it really entertaining.

It turns out itā€™s well under an hour:

I finished this over the weekend and started a non-lethal no-powers HUDless ghost run. Iā€™m only on the second level but itā€™s surprisingly not as hard to ghost as I was expecting, at least not early on. The quick save helps a lot too. Playing totally HUDless is really nice and immersive as well. I managed to discover an area in the first level that I didnā€™t see on my previous play through thanks to poking around some more looking for a path to creep by everything.

Ghosting the second level was a bit more of a challenge. No powers means no enhancements either so no jump boost upgrade that makes getting up and over places more easy. I still prevailed!

Third level might take me even longer because itā€™s the first assassination mission and doing it non-lethally means I have to go do the thing that opens up the non-lethal option first and canā€™t just make my way straight to the target. Forcing yourself to slowly creep through each area makes me appreciate the level layouts a lot more. There are so many little places to tuck yourself away and hide for a few moments while a guard passes. And then you choke the guard out and find a place to hide him. This game is a body stashing sim.

I started playing this the other day and WOWWEE that first level is like a gol-dang meat grinder. I donā€™t remember the first dishonored having this many MANS or them having this good of visibility of me, everywhere, forever.

I actually did true ghost through dish ono red 1, itā€™s what convinced me that as a metagame true ghosting isnā€™t worthwhile.

It makes more sense, and is somewhat more fun, in Thief. Dishonored gives you too many fun toys to fuck with people not to use them.

true ghosting in thief is kinda hellish too, though. No water arrows! Itā€™s specifically playing the game in a way that rejects all the tools the game gives you to make normal stealth play reasonably enjoyable. Itā€™s just dick measuring contests by that point.

Holy shit. How is this even nominally a stealth game? This is like first person DMC.

In the hypothetical universe where I was still making LPs, I would almost certainly have done this game, so Iā€™m glad Iā€™m not making LPs, cause videos like these would completely obsolete them.
