For the “back home” parts, yeah basically. Not the combat obviously.
i couldn’t figure out what kind of game it was, like the screenshots just had marvel characters in them and i couldn’t work out what you actually do
It’s xcom
kinda?
It’s a grid based strategy game where your moves are limited by card pulls. Each character has a gimmick that interplays with the mechanics. It’s not super well balanced so at high levels some characters are just better than others, and some are better for situations.
What makes it really odd is that there are a number of ‘popcorn’ enemies that keep being generated every turn that you have to manage, and having cards that keep up with that without eating into your bigger move count of three moves before an enemy attack round starts ends up being about half of what you’re accounting for.
It’s an interesting experiment but ultimately flawed.
Mix with that half the game is wandering around home base finding berries and talking to people, which is deeply un-marvel at its core, and shows why you have these characters getting interrupted and leaping into battle all the time in the stories, because you need someone to be completely unreasonable to create drama otherwise, and some of the characters become completely unlikable not for a murder or anything, but for just being SO whiney.
sounds great! still interested to play this.
So many strikes!
First of all it has nothing to do with those early 90s midnight sons books but is instead a random assortment of the most marketable marvel characters (this could just be the New Fantastic Four game) in goofier than usual matching outfits.
Now I find out it’s also some sort of card battle game?
Yeah it’s essentially a deckbuilder
but the deck is tied to the plot and ‘character progression’ and collecting little nodes in the yard.
I only like collecting t shirts out of dumpsters
This isn’t videogames but thought someone might be interested and this is the best place for visibility about dealz so…
