SNK’s 1991 vertical shoot’em up for the NEO*GEO system, Ghost Pilots, is free on Amazon Games currently (as well as Crossed Swords and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition)

proof positive that Jeff Bezos holds each and every one of us in contempt

i too quite liked the original free version and find that these new versions have

  1. significantly worse UI (and are uglier to boot)
  2. have too many mechanics, which makes progress a rather tedious math problem

the included puzzles are a great example of this; for me there’s no good way to intuit or deduce the answer without making a spreadsheet, so i’m often reduced to just trying things and seeing which works best

i think if it went any further though it would loop back around to being tactical nexus and i would respect it more. i like my tactics games to be easily calculable in my head, or have variance so i can’t math everything out, or be so complicated that even making a spreadsheet to simulate it would be an enormous task.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind is on sale (which I don’t think happens too frequently) for 12 USD

So another fairly big charity itch bundle snuck up on me/us, this one for the big earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria a few months back.

A bit over 200 things (games, physical games, soundtracks, assets, etc.) for $10, if one picked up all the previous bundles there’s little in the way of “new” known games but still charity is good and such.

Does anyone want just the discs for Japanese PS1 Final Fantasy VII? I bought what I thought was an empty case, to store M discs with vital records on inside, but the actual game discs came with it and I have no use for them. It would be easiest if you lived in the bay area but I can mail them at some point too.

strong arcade racer with a few big flaws. professional difficulty has terrible rubber-banding and is not worth playing, honestly, and the characters are a snooze

still, it is an absolute blast to drift around in this game - one of the best arcade-style racers of recent memory

Death Stranding is free on the Epic Games Store again. It’s the normal version.

Metro: Last Light Complete Edition is free on Steam.

The death stranding director’s cut upgrade is $5 as well

Epic is also doing one of their big sales with an extra “25% off purchases over $14.99” coupon deal again, on a quick browse I didn’t see any deals that wowed me but I did do the mental math on if picking up a couple games marked down to $8 each minus and extra 25% is worth dealing with epic.

But. What. Are. Those. Games?

The were Lumote and Paradise Killer. Lumote is a game I’ve had my eye on for a bit and has had an interesting developmental history (plus it had a demo put up this week that was pleasant), while I have no actual thoughts on Paradise Killer but remember a bunch of talk here about it being okay until it isn’t.
