At first I was like OK, another D&I club, I hope the emblem has a wheelchair but not a puzzle piece, but then:
“I was hesitant at first to mention [to Chris] one of my barriers: fast firing non-automatic weapons like Scout Rifles and Hand Cannons cause me hand pain during longer sessions. Why couldn’t we have a way to enable auto-fire on these kinds of weapons? I braced for a negative response. Instead, he heartily agreed and mentioned it was something he had already been considering as something that we could work toward including in the game. You may have seen rumblings about upcoming changes in this area in recent TWAB posts and we hope you’ll stay tuned for more updates.”
They’re definitely working on the VFX because of Liana Ruppert at GameInformer’s reporting. We basically kill Electric Soldier Porygon every week for chrissakes.
thankfully the delay of witch queen means that this season is essentially six months, so there’s some consolation that i might have time to come back around to it.
one of the new emotes is the “dead spartan flying through the air in halo 1” animation. you can get the security officer helmet and marathon shotgun. to get the halo 1 magnum you do a perspective alignment puzzle to make the seventh column logo. they really picked some fun crossover stuff. the writing is a little overbearing on the xur stuff (particularly the starhorse; makes me think of “butt stallion” from borderlands 2, which is so awful to me) but the rewards and looks make it totally worth it
I’m loving this release and the timing couldn’t be better
There are so many subtle references just in level geometry let alone infamous "lol"s like the armor lock emote. It’s confident and wry but not pretentious
The subtitles for the horse dialogue make the writing work for me, metatextually riffing on [insect-like chittering]
Most importantly - the reprised Halo weapons feel absolutely perfect
