Hi. I don’t like Star Trek very much, and I am bored at work. I was wondering if I should try Farscape, so I thought the most direct way to figure that out would be to rank all the Star Trek series as a community
Here’s the system. I’ve listed 18 shows below, which I consider types of Star Trek.
You can beseech me to add stuff to the list, and I might if I buy your explanation of why it fits the list.
You can also give points to each show in the list. You all get 60 total points, which you can allocate between each show.
You cannot give more than 10 points to any one show. Any points over 10 will not be counted.
You don’t have to use all your points.
You can edit your post later, like if we add a show to the list.
Please do not rank shows you haven’t ever watched at all.
After the thread seems to have died down, I’ll count the total points for all the shows and rank them in this OP. Or if I forget about the thread, someone else can do it.
And, obviously, feel free to explain your choices, make fun of the choices of others, talk about your favorite Star Trek hunks, etc. It is a web forum.
One show I would like to add to the list is that one British miniseries thing that showed on Sci Fi channel in the early days. It was very 90’s and bondagey. I think it was dark and gritty. Were there faces on TV screens? I think they were butchering people and eating them as meat or something?
It had some kind of one word name I think? Grommet? Gumble? Gamblor?
Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) 10 points
The Orville (2017) 10 points
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993) 10 points
Babylon 5 (1994) 10 points
Star Trek: TOS (1966) 5 points
Red Dwarf (1988) 5 points
Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973) 5 points
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020) 5 points
This is perfect, because when I made my OP I wanted to have an unwritten rule that the first person to ask for Firefly would be banned from having their votes counted, but then I thought that would be too mean. But now: totally justified.
Anyway, Firefly is not a Star Trek. It’s a Cowboy Bebop.
