I still havenāt finished this game. Will I ever? I donāt know. My gf and I got super sucked in for the first few chapters and then went on vacation. When we came back, it was all over. Feels like a horse thatās almost impossible to climb back onto.
All you gotta do is walk, walk your way back onto that horse
This thread reminded me that Diehardman shouldāve been named Explaindumbman.
Did anyone else immediately shoot Amelie when given the chance only to be disappointed that the game had more to say after a false choice?
I played this for like 50 hours and the last thing I remember doing was unlocking the ability to make zip-lines and exploring the mountainous area around Mountain Knot City.
I wish the game was more āgradually rebuild this weird infrastructureā and less āgradually watch this weird movieā.
iām in the same boat. i really did try to marathon it for the first day or two but after that āmomentā slipped away it didnāt seem like it did a lot to invite casual engagement
then again i guess iām like that with every game now ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
I played this game while my cat of 18 years was infirm and dying. For weeks, he was in his bed beside me on the couch, my own felid BB, and we enjoyed each otherās shared, inert presence. The game usually asked little of my moment-to-moment attention, and the fact that itās 75% boring chores with little expectation of narrative payoff worked in its advantage. I could enjoy the sensory busywork while also keeping my nervous system active to tend to his palliative comfort and needs.
I beat the game the day before he died. I am grateful for the gameās role in this experience, and I will never play it again.
Is it just me or does this game have an enormous plot hole in that Bridges could have just hired Fragile to warp the q-pid everywhere
Yeah but she would get really tired
I mean also as you go on through the game not everyone wants to link up at first, so you have to prove to them itās worth their while by doing stuff you need a porter like Sam for.
I am Polt-holi-o
I think she needs to be able to imagine her destination. Doesnāt she have limits on what she can carry? Certainly not a truck load.
I need consistency for my plot-o
This is a spoiler for, I dunno, chapter 5 or so, say the part where you learn about all of Fragileās background, but the world at large was convinced she was with the terrorists so thereās no way Bridges would have given her the Q-pid because none of the big Bridges knots would have trusted her, possibly including Bridges HQ. Thereās also the reverse problem that maybe on the other hands the preppers who knew and trusted her would be fine with her being the carrier but they didnāt trust Bridges and the reunification is a big Bridges propaganda operation. Thatās why they had to rally everyone behind Sam. As Shloznak mentions itās also possible she simply couldnāt carry the Q-pid, since you can only carry stuff you give a shit about, although that requires believing Sam cared more about reunification than her by the time the option became available.
PC launch ahoy.
Iām a couple hours in and amazed at the canteen that recycles toxic time travel rain into Monster Energy Drink.
Also this game looks amazing. Like total witchcraft with the grass and moss and all that.
Worried that dealing with the handstand Heaven Smiles is going to burn me out though. My seat only has so many edges.
This game is exhausting so far.
Edit: Finally got it working without stutter on linux after enabling Nvidia FXAA. Periodically all the rocks in the game are floating in the air randomly though, and I still donāt know how to fix that. So weāll see how playable it is now.
I think I figured out how to make the foating rocks go away, and hopefully it is a permanent fix. It made completing Chapter 4 close to impossible as there were trees and floating debris everywhere and it was impossible to see and in some cases move. The game becomes very relaxing once you get to the point that driving everywhere becomes trivial. My boyfriend hates it though, and cinematics wise it remains kind of dumb. In Chapter 3 I managed to figure out the correct solution by accident while doing something I thought would be funny but not work also. Itās a lot like MGS5 really: fun gameplay, especially later in the game, and dumb writing.
I think I know the solution youāre talking about, and I had the same delightful experience you did probably. And Iām curious what you mean by floating rocks?
You can check my twitch if you want to see. Itās a linux exclusive horrible glitch, that occurs because of how shaders are processed through protonās wine compatability layer I guess. Either of the two most recent videos should have it in the start I think.
oh yeah thatās terrible. looks a bit surreal though, floating rocks in the horizon forever
I think the rocks next to the highway are supposed to be floating. Let me seeā¦
The best example is in this video around the 27 minute mark I think
