All the fucked up haircuts and teeth in this game had me going these mfs look like they just walked out of an Balabanov movie and my friend pointed out that the leaked concept art for Stalker 2 literally used Dead Man’s Bluff as reference material. Lmfao

Got back to town right as a thunderstorm was starting and saw a rando stalker get hit by lightning not five feet from me and die instantly

Of course I looted his corpse

also this guy raises a good point

what’s up with westerners unable to be normal about ukrainians existing

small glimpses of Ukrainian nationalism do peek through - the flag’s colours on a box of matches, a field of poppies marking the eerie resting spot of fallen soldiers.

the matches in question are a real brand that just looks like this

imagine clutching your pearls over the specter of ukrainian nationalism because of this matchbox

Literally where in the game does it say the poppy field is the resting place of soldiers

Skif used to be in the army. Smh they’re putting politics in my game series that is about evil Soviet scientists building mind control antennas

A dev says alife is totally non functional atm which explains the AAA open world slop ass spawns. Hope they can fix it soon, because it will completely change the vibe of things

The poppy field is also not a resting ground for soldiers! It’s a whole-ass sidequest that’s REALLY GOOD and ties into the historic evacuation of the Zone! You’re sent there by a guy whose farm it used to be, because he can’t go because an anomaly there makes you uncontrollably fall asleep and never wake up. So he asks you to retrieve an Orthodox relic from his family’s root cellar. You can sell it to a stalker on the edge of the field, or bring it back. I brought it back and he praised me for being a decent person in a zone. Of what I’ve played so far (just left Lesser Zone) it’s one of my two favorite quests, the other being the pacifist Monolithian trying to aid the stalker injured by a poltergeist.

I understand the trepidation around Azov guys and the like, but there’s some real derangement going on if the takeaway from the Poppy Field is, uh, soldier burial. And not the upheaval of life after the nuclear reactor accident.

The person who wrote that is absolutely a diseased anglo because there is no reason you would make that assumption otherwise. The game takes place before the war and the soldiers aren’t even called the Ukrainian army anymore, they’ve been replaced by IPSF, the International Perimeter Security Force.

I’m only gonna play this game lightly til they fix the a life I’m holding out for my nature watching but I’m still gonna play a couple hours a day cuz I’m compelled the story seems interesting

there’s also a maximal chaos option for the poppy field quest: sell the icon, shoot the buyer in the face, and then return it to the original guy. Everyone’s happy except the looter

a surprising number of the missions in this game have these unlisted solutions that the devs actually anticipated (my mission log updated after every one of these steps to reflect my awful decision making)

Until they fix a life I am traversing the zone as a total coward. I don’t have to be faster than a bloodsucker, just faster than the slowest stalker or bandit stupid enough to waste ammo fighting a bloodsucker

Uncertain about the writing at this point (I am on that shitty swamp island in the southeast) but maybe it’ll add up to something. individual side missions are still good and even the throwaway jobs that don’t pay enough to be worth it show a lot of reactivity.

Sound design is the real star of the game so far but I am also genuinely impressed by the combat ai even if their barks are fairly repetitive (so many variants on “get into cover!” instead of something more specific). Game feels best in that zone between the end of pure stealth and the beginning of a full firefight, when enemies have an idea where you are but not your precise position. They’ll shoot and throw grenades at where they think you are, usually quite close to wherever you last fired a gun, which is easy to exploit because a guy sprinting through thick foliage is much quieter than a grenade.

Now if only dogs and mutants werent so brainless, hoping that will get addressed in a patch

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is getting a new patch during the week to come — both on PC and Xbox.

The game has been out for several days now (it’s still surreal to say that), and we’ve been following your feedback in all possible forms carefully. To the more than one million stalkers in the Zone, thanks for playing — that means the world to us.

We are sure you have things to handle in the Zone, but so do we.

The following update will include:

Crash Fixes, including:

Issues and memory allocation failures, which previously caused the game to exit unexpectedly, particularly around rendering, skeletal meshes, and quest-related cutscenes.

Main Quest Progression Fixes, including:

Several bugs blocking the main quest progression, NPCs getting stuck in objects, incorrect quest markers, and issues with quest cutscenes.
Revision of the main quests (like Visions of Truth or A Minor Incident) to ensure smooth transitions, avoiding rare cases of players not being able to proceed further.

Gameplay & Balance Adjustments, including:

Fixing the price of the weapons with upgrades installed compared to their value without attachments.
NPCs behavior, including the way they act when lacking a shelter during the Emissions.

Cutscenes & Visual Fixes, including:

Rarely missing facial animations, misplaced NPCs, and visual inconsistencies like detached heads and clothes clipping.
Quality and stability improvements of the visual effects.

Softlock Fixes, including:

Issue where players were unable to close the trade screen after putting ammo in a wrong slot while playing on a gamepad.

User Interface Improvements, including:

Quest notifications now showed correctly during dialogues.
Corrected texts and missing interaction prompts.

Noted to be addressed in future updates:

Analogue sticks dead zones bugfixes.
A-Life system bugfixes.

We want to reassure you once more that we will make every effort to constantly improve your S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl experience. We are truly grateful for your feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Your GSC Game World team.

can’t stop thinking about how the devs clearly consulted the stalker zone chronicles russian fan wiki for lore information for this game because there was an object in Call of Prypiat that fans theorized was a portable psi-emitter, but one of the cop devs clarified in a recent interview that that isn’t true, they’re just one way transmitters, but the fan theory ended up being reflected in stalker 2

Man going back to the first game made me sad. In 10 minutes in cordon I saw a pack of dogs chasing a flesh, which led them into a whirligig and killed almost the entire pack. A few minutes later I was heading towards garbage and saw one of the surviving dogs dragging a military guy I killed off into a bush to eat his body while another dog kept watch. The AI in stalker 2 is miles away from being anything like this, it’s fucked up.

Look at him!! He’s working so hard!!!
