I dunno what about Cyberpunk 2077 makes you so brittle to commentary on a game you didn’t make and haven’t played, but as Felix points out these are not great positions to defend. Try talking about what you’re interested in re: the game, so that you are engaging in a dialogue instead of sneering. I suspect you’ll get better responses that way.

They definitely do (how we support representation is a major topic, especially as it’s a ‘new’ problem to solve), but I think the problem is that it’s one of many, many plates to spin and thoughts at that level are more thinking about slicing demographics and appealing to broader audiences and divining the zeitgeist.

In other words, executive/creative decision-making at this budget level is very reactionary because everything is so risky

I think it’s fair to view some of these decisions as malice now that they’ve dug so deep a hole but both are possible in the timidity of these environments

i feel like the “idk its just tweets” thing is something people do a lot but its always undeserved. if a company is willing to allow transphobic shit on their twitter its pretty safe to say thats a reflection of their company as a whole. cdpr only apologized because people got mad lol, if they were proactive in the first place it would say a lot!!

for me it’s easier even to get to “maybe they’re just annoyed and blowing off steam at being confronted with so many obviously correct responses to a dumb thing they did and they just need a minute to reconsider” than “oh they’re awful and they intend to be” which always makes me wonder if I’m somehow projecting that everyone is a reactionary with a heart of gold

probably not flattering if so

i mean like as a trans woman 90% of the people who are shitty to me are being deliberately shitty because its SUCH a fucking low bar to not be shitty so i naturally assume most people are being assholes because they can get away with it! its got a lot to do with how much of this shit affects your actual life, its much easier to give people the benefit of the doubt when you arent constantly being fucked with or treated like shit
