Cooking for dummies

if you’re looking to keep your meals as consistent and dead-easy to prepare as possible, I think you’d probably have an easy time just picking a good mixture of beans and then throwing in some specifically selected veggies, and then just making a stew/chili with them. I’m pretty sure you could keep it down to 2 types of beans, and 2 or 3 types of veggies and get every single nutrient a human needs for the rest of your life.

But who knows, maybe you’ve stumbled onto the secret recipe for immortality.

yeah i tried that before and i’m not a believer anymore

i feel a lot better now than i did eating that way

useless anecdotal evidence: my partner is vegan and has digestive issues, acne issues and migraine issues like all the time. even takes PPIs now. could all be because they took ibuprofen and loved chili. fuck if i know. they studied nutritional science and love to roast me as well, i’m used to it by now

it’s interesting to me that when i witness them eat toast and oats and brown rice and tofu and noodles and rice crackers or even a green salad, i don’t feel the urge to join. like at all. i catch myself not even seeing this stuff as food anymore. not sure if i’m happy or sad about that. but i guess it either means i’m satisfied and my body has all it needs or i’m just becoming a pickier eater. i can still see myself enjoying a good sourdough bread or some potatoes though. and i try to eat some of my veggies when we eat out. i don’t wanna be afraid of veggies. they are a bit sus though :beans::broccoli:

ok i think we’re coming from different places with this stuff so i want to leave you be but vegan x carnivore is a wild pairing. like i can see how it happened if you got into this diet after the two of you shacked up. do the two of you smell different to each other now, is that i want to know

started out with me being vegan and them eating animals, funnily enough. i may have converted them, and then converted myself to seek out animal products again when i blamed my bodily failings on my diet

kefir makes my breath smell not great i am told. i am also not allowed to ferment raw liver anymore. meanwhile i have to deal with vegan farts and garlic breath. i think relationships always involve some kind of chemical warfare between partners. bodies are gross sometimes, i wish i could just do photosynthesis, etc…

pretty sure i’ll pay for my sins eventually. sorry animals, i’m too weak to not eat you atm. maybe i’ll start a new vegan arc if/when i catch a parasite

look my partner smells great to me unless he’s eating natto or mackerel, but i’m beginning to understand he’s a bit of an outlier. godspeed w your meals i hope they treat you well for years to come

anecdotally, my dad has been on an all carnivore, anti-vegetables thing for 3-ish years since he heard joe rogan talk about how awesome it is for Your Health. it has surprisingly done wonders for his Gout and he’s lost a ton of weight, so like i don’t try to yuck his yum about it anymore. bodies are weird and different things just work for different people i guess. still a big advocate for eating vegetables tho, because they are deelicious.

been getting into perfectly poached chicken breasts lately. used to be my least fave part of the chicken but now??? it’s great cos i can prep them in advance and throw them on salads or like make a little cold noodle sichuan thing or whatever. the other night i was high and made a quick pea/arugula/sauce to go with it with some dressed up canned white beans. ultimate summer heat cooking imo

i’ve also been returning to the delicate promise of the chicken breast and the white bean, recently.

when i was vegan my meals were:

  • rolled oats with water and sliced banana
  • white rice with kidney beans, green peas and olive oil and maybe some pitted kalamata olives
  • or white rice with tomato purée, coconut oil and chili
  • also macadamia nuts and melon as a treat

Ok so hear me out I know this sounds crazy but…

is how I probably shouldn’t start my post

ok raw mince is a bit challenging for me to get around. raw-meticulously-reared-and-slaughtered fillet maybe. i mean idk i don’t really know what steak tartare is

it’s tested for parasites where i live :grimacing:
