Anyone using a 4k monitor? What’s the pricepoint I should be looking at for a 4k monitor?

docker just gave one of my containers the random name “cranky_maxwell”

I guess I can legitimately install Win 11 now. But at what cost?

dunno, how expensive was that dongle?

win11 killed all my fan tuning settings for CPU & GPU, not much fun running a stress test after every minor tweak. on the other hand, it made me check for dust in the heatsinks (loads of it). good, bad, it’s impossible to tell

Universally marked up to 60 USD and suspiciously lacking the MSI logos from the product page.

60$?
Wow…

Yeah I bit the bullet. There’s a possibility I’m getting a new, larger NVMe drive for Christmas. If that happens, I’ll rebuild my workstation with Win 11 like a fool. If it doesn’t, I might anyway.

I have two TPMs, neither of which I actually need because they’re Coffee Lake machines

i cavalierly installed win11 dev + beta and having used it since the earliest insider builds, it just plain sucks lol

right-click context menus take an extra click now due to the pointless top-level context menu that has to be bypassed, an incredibly inane and utterly useless change

also you can’t right click on the taskbar and get the task manager from there anymore, which is going to make troubleshooting on win11 that much more obnoxious for nebulous, probably non-existent benefit

win11 has somehow turned my rock solid, never-faltering PC into an unstable monster. i have had lockups, monitor issues, sluggishness, and other headaches… win11 is a mess at the moment.

i do like how they redid the settings menu at least, but overall there’s currently not a lot of benefit to 11 and a lot of side- or downgrades

i’m considering clean reinstall of the OS and maybe i’ll be fine at that point but i’m not happy

The right click thing is maddening. It took me a whole session for me to catch onto the second layer with the old menu hidden away.
