Circuit City on the Edge of Forever

so I had a pixel XL and I had all the problems you had and MORE (except the time going away i don’t know why but I like that, maybe I like remembering numbers too much though)… the biggest being my batterys life was over 50 percent shorter after updating

but now I have a pixel 6 and it works perfectly, better than my computer, which is 10 years old but still. oh my god it’s so fast BUT I’ve only had old computers and old phones so I might not know what I’m talking about

after the android 12 update they made all the old phones shitty in 100 ways to make us buy new ones

NOT THIS BITCH, i’m gonna destroy my phone and rebuild it from the ground up baby

(and then probably experience twice as many problems but at least they’re my problems, that i inflicted on myself. a moral victory)

… i bet the pixel 6 is awesome though, i do love a fast phone

yeah that’s always what I do too! I wish it were easier to just make things last. I like old worn in shit that works like a charm

Every time some fucking thing wants to update (so 93 times a day at this point) my first reaction is jesus christ NO

I don’t think I like computers anymore

IINA is like genuinely better than any other vlc or mpv frontend and even so it’s barely maintained at this point

what does it do better than mpv.net on windows?

mostly plays nice with macos’s window management and UI. VLC and MPV feel distinctly non-native

well, you shouldn’t be using VLC because that’s a degenerate program/ffplay gui

letting mpv do it’s own thing w/r/t it’s look, UX and UI is great in my experience because I can just have an attractive window on a display that’s 100% video and no cruft

then again I’m that guy who modifies their mpv.conf to have hwdec on when it boots

I am also this guy

I still use VLC on my windows machine only because it has a better kiosk/remote situation on my projector

I was too lazy to pirate a scene analyzer plug-in for my nlve so instead I made ffmpeg spit out timecodes for every transition past 0.4 in long plays of the sonics adventure. High levels of stack overflow brain.

yeah never tried any of the mpv frontends cos it’s fine as is
though i did need to edit the conf on windows because the defaults hate gsync

Got an iPhone 13 mini for Hanukkah. This is my first encounter with OLED, and I feel as though I am developing an object relation.

Smplayer only supports deinterlacing top field first. I’m back on the hunt for a video player I don’t hate.

A schiit jotunheim gets way too hot to be viable as a thing to have plugged into a computer you spend 16 hours playing ffxiv on
