I’ve been looking at the SSUPD Meshilicious for the same reasons. I absolutely do not want glass and Lian Li’s breaking my heart

just pay them extra money for mesh sides

this is the small form factor penalty

Does the Q58 have that option? Nice!

both the Mesh and Q58 have buyable mesh panels, yeah

I have the TU150 w/tempered glass and honestly, with that being my only experience with the stuff, it’s pretty okay but that case is engineered with a front/bottom>back air flow so it sort of doesn’t fall into the same trap a lot of cases with glass panels do

also it has a handle

(admittedly, it having a handle is canceled out by 60% of the weight being the glass panel)

the actual reason I’m interested in the Q58 is that the version that comes with a PCIe 4.0 riser cable is still 40-100 bucks less than most boutique cases

between the NR200, the Mesh and this, cheap SFF is getting there

What’s wrong with glass? Heavy and fragile?

Yeah, the look doesn’t appeal to me so those are strictly downsides. May as well be ventilated if it’s transparent in my book.

the metal parts of the case would’ve fit, we merely would’ve had to sacrifice the front USB and audio jacks, the power button, and the rear IEC power input in order to make it work

which might be a little too much

also like a reference-cooler 3090 would fit but this 1080Ti doesn’t

yeah I wanted the Q58 but availability in Canada is “the what case? hmm let me check… uh our stock guy just says ‘soon’” so I’ve settled on the Cooler Master 200P which I don’t like as much but should be here Monday :woman_shrugging:t2:

frankly the worst part is now I’m looking at it like “wow what a lot of wasted space this new case has… maybe I should water cool it” and please somebody stop me

I also have a widdle AIO loop I’m waiting to deploy for the Dan A4 but have been waiting until I need to dissipate a 12 core ryzen’s worth of heat, looking forward to that one

as far as I can tell, Newegg(.com, no idea if .ca has it listed) has a ship date of Oct. 1 but those ship from Lian-Li direct so who knows how long that would take

I had to transfer my beautiful slim computer into my old Antec P180 case last year because I still can’t jump on a rebuild and I’ve gotten inordinately picky about the micro case I’ll get next

and I’ve recently developed the habit of switching towers on my desk twice a day

.ca does not have it listed

EDIT; like, to be clear if it were pre-order able at all with any clear ship date I would do it but it isn’t so

yeah, they don’t typically share inventory

(which is for the best as it means you can often get stuff without just paying a straight 30% markup as you’d expect from them just doing the currency conversion and shipping it, but it does mean that you have to be a lot more opportunistic than just checking regular retail channels)

newegg canada lists a lot of clearance stuff on ebay btw, if it ships from “Richmond Hill, Ontario” you can tell

my most recent Canadian computer retail story involved being very very glad that I was able to get a friend a 3070 for MSRP in like their first month of availability after I already spent far more on the build than I wanted for him. I’ve made myself a rule that I only do builds for friends here like once every other year because the market is so irritating and it takes me such a long time to get deals I’m happy with that I can pretty much only shop for myself. craigslist alerts are your friend, though I think if there were like, more than a half-dozen people living here who shopped the way I do we’d end up in mortal conflict since I’m clearly benefitting from a lack of competing opportunism due to Canadians’ low expectations.

Mortified that I am bothered by the apparently 5g weight difference between old and new mini iPhones but it means I definitely made the right call

Don’t be like me if you can help it

I got the battery replaced in my X this year because I’m still v happy with it

so far the list of reasons to upgrade are like… polycam, prores, shooting raw… that’s it. I’ll give it another 1 or 2 generations

I want a fingerprint sensor dammit
