The cost vs. Switch is more than made up for by using our main library we’re also already sharing within my family.

I suspect that estimate may be writing off developers’ willingness to test their linux builds

like we just did this 5 years ago and the debug tooling is still not there

The day I am paying for my own highspeed internet instead of just leeching off a landlord who won’t shell out for any decent bandwidth I might fuck around with streaming, but today isn’t that day. And this thing might even have more performance than my now 8 year old laptop (which admittedly still plays PS4-gen games with graphics on medium!).

Plus I can play it while I’m laying down.

Idk! I put down $5 my entire relationship to gaming could change before this thing is even out

Maybe we’re getting controller innovations becoming standardized that Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have only been flirting with. Back paddles, Gyro, dual touch pads, haptics.

If this catches on then we can expect a Steam Controller 2 that incorporates all of this into a standalone controller.

what’s the consensus on the M1 Macbook Pros? is it worth committing at this point? it seems that the higher end ones are still running intel cpu.

this is what i currently have, but i’m taking it to be repaired tonight and am expecting the costs to be 500+ and i should probably just look into a new one…

Dual Core = replace it

the only knock against the current pro’s is that they aren’t very pro, it’s widely perceived that they only refreshed them because the M1 Air would be faster than all but the highest end Intel Pro otherwise. There’s definitely an upgraded M1X Pro coming soon, but for that matter, you might be fine with the M1 Air (which is still going to be at least 5x as fast as what you have)

cool, thanks.
i’ll see what these repairs cost, then maybe hold out till a new mbp.

oh hey that’s my exact macbook! really appreciating the longevity on these guys, it’s still perfectly usable

yeah, this one is fine except ~6 months ago there was some electrical surge that fried the soundcard. luckily when im at my desk i have an audio interface connected (and bluetooth audio still works), but if you try and play any sort of media file without an audio device it freaks out.
