Cartoons (Part 2)

,

that’s interesting. i do not feel any particular tonal clash at all with the jokes or silliness, i feel like this early in a show it’s just introducing it’s tone to begin with so i don’t know how to define “out of character” but perhaps i am simply too sitcom pilled.

I wonder how much of it is Steve Hely’s influence.

I feel like of the writers room, Dave King has the most normie sitcom writer resume. Also Greg Daniels is a producer.

Finished off Netflixvania Nocturne Season 2. I guess it’s something. Way to many moving parts and a ballooning plot that I’m not sure says anything despite trying so hard to sound like the show was about something. Final Fight had some cool bits of animation but felt a little overwrought. I get the impression the staff on this show chose sword instead of whip during the bloodstained marketing phase. The seem to take any opportunity to animate Belmonts fighting without a whip so they could just make their own Avatar fight choreography.

Went to an anime con and got this cool poster in the artists alley. (I spent way too much money on posters there)

article doesn’t bring it up but i’ll bet this has something to do with science saru getting acquired last year

is eunyoung choi not running science saru any more?

Like Gunbuster before it, Diebuster (aka Aim for the Top 2) is largely influenced by kickass 70’s tennis series Aim for the Ace!.

It somehow took until yesterday for it to dawn on me that my favorite ep of the series, which revolves around Tycho Science earning a fancy new tennis robot, was PROBABLY an Aim for the Ace reference…

As someone who did not watch the movie Shrek in the year 2001 because it was too ugly to look at and has never watched a Shrek product, seeing people complain about the style of Shrek 5 which looks identically bad to me is really fascinating.

yeah i dont get it either. i guess for once im glad people are complaining instead of like, being thirsty for shrekdaughter

i also cant believe theyre going from the last wish which shocked me with how good it was & had a really rad style to another damn shrekquel

Shrek is the absolute worst shit on earth, aesthetically and philosophically repulsive, half-assed garbage, a potent symbol of just how cruel and vapid pop culture had gotten in the 2000’s.

The only good thing to come out of Shrek is the google image search query “Shrek bowling ball”. It’s changed over the years but it’s always been and still remains one of the best searches you can perform. Try it. You’ll see.

I actually took out screencaps of the OG shrek to compare and I think they just look less shiny have almost imperceptibly larger and more expressive eyes?

Unless they’re complaining about how…the shirt and weird mantle thing he has fasten slightly different?

Like this has to just be proof rage bait channels are just an industry, right? Like I knew they were already but this is ludicrous.

“shrek local theater production” is also a choice search

everything good to come out of shrek (besides the last wish) has been ironic stuff like mouth sounds or the crowdsourced retold video
