The Venture Bros movie was just about everything I hoped it would be. If we don’t get any more, this answered enough of my questions that I’ll be satisfied. I hope they get to make more, though.

all the characters are like… kind of annoying and i don’t really care about private school intrigue

Hey did YOU know there’s an anime miniseries on netflix about a space colonization mission gone wrong with Yoshitaka Amano character and tech designs and an original Ryuichi Sakamoto soundtrack? Well now you do. It’s called exception.
How can shit like this just dribble out with no fanfare any more? The streaming world is wild, man.

witch from mercury needs to be exceptional for me to get over the animation style (please care about backgrounds again I’m begging you) . the prologue was exceptional, does the show ever live up to the prologue again? (besides the post credit scene that I’ll look up now)

I need to get to the second season of Witch from Mercury. The first season coasted way too much on high school hangout vibes and its Utena riff for my taste (and Utena is great, but sanded-down-Utena-homage-filtered-through-2020s-Sunrise-house-style is not necessarily gonna keep me coming back on its own). Then there was a pretty good episode in the middle that helped me stay with it (I also had to watch it all once it had aired rather than keep up week to week because it wasn’t keeping my attention waiting a week between episodes), and then in the last couple episodes it started becoming more of what I’m looking for in a Gundam series.
Yeah, the prologue was pretty great. I think it starts to get back to that level by the end of S1.
Damn, I barely remember what happened in S1. Better read a summary before I start in on it again.

IMO, G Witch was probably the best main line gundam to watch week to week in recent memory. Helps it was 1 big season with a break in the middle instead of being a hard break into a second season. Sunrise 2nd seasons are usually a disaster. A hilarious disaster or just boring disaster. Rarely any inbetween. For a long time Gundam watcher I was largely entertained though I think the show could’ve used a little more time for showing the problems on earth to sell the political tensions between earth and space a bit better. I can’t really comment on background quality as I didn’t really catch anything jarring because the mechanical animation without obvious CG was so lovely that it carried most of the show for me. I’ve also seen alot of people with no prior Gundam experience get on board after watching this so take that as a litmus for how approachable its made it self.
