i dropped off everything else i tried, it’s just suletta sundays.
Heavenly Delusion is really good! I’m really, really enjoying it.
See tibyz’s post a little while back:
Also I’ve been following the Dr. Stone dub, which is a show clearly aimed at teaching kids engineering, biology, and how things work, and is strangely very enjoyable. I feel like it’s entertaining for the same reason that crafting is entertaining? It’s sorta like watching an anime of How It’s Made.
saw that Blood of Zeus thing on Netflix
was alright
something about the VA is very strange
the animation also feels off
i enjoyed it though, the depiction of the gods were mostly fun
Yeah even though it hit me right in my ancient Greece it was a real big step down from Castlevania and I couldn’t keep it up past the first couple episodes
new clone high is fucking great. it has that super quick self-aware dialogue that’s always one step ahead of what the characters should actually be thinking (“you’d better have a sound ulterior motive for tricking me”) but delivered straight as opposed to rick and morty where they’ll switch voice in order to do internet forum commentary on their own show. also feels more visually inspired than the original
The “Holy Tree” religion in the Yuki Yuna universe is intriguing. They only show glimpses of it without really explaining how it works
i’m on the final disc of turn a gundam!
the turn x needing all the power of the futuristic moon city to be launched for the first time was really cool, as was the turn a and the turn x fighting while massive images of the dark history were being projected everywhere.
i just watched episode 47, and got a little chill when people started suddenly manifesting newtype powers
started watching bocchi the rock ln and it’s so good!!!
Up to ep 12 of Heavenly Delusion and I’m gonna revised my rec just a bit:
It’s still good, but the horror elements are starting to become more and more the focus, pushing aside the adventure/buddy parts of the show. It is effective horror for the most part, and you might wanna prepare for that a bit going in.
The subplot with the kids in Heaven is probably the main offender here, with each ep involving them being “what new horror traumatizes the kids this week?”
yeah, immediately after watching the end of episode 12 i just had to check how the story would progress past that, how they would resolve the absurdly unconfortable thing (tw for sexual assault on that one) that was brought up out of left field there.
i ended up reading all the remaining twenty chapters, so now i’m caught up with the story.
a few things on the plot going forward without giving details:
-
on the thing at the end of episode 12, i really really dislike how it’s handled (especially considering the mini-adventure right after) because in the end not only its a very unsettling pair of scenes, it also doesn’t even settle anything between the characters involved in any meaningful way. like, it’s still in the open what really is Robin’s deal, apart from him being a piece of shit abuser. it is a turning point for kiruko which provides a heartfelt moment that opens up new ways for them to see their identity going forward and that feels meaningful at the very least, even though the price for it is complete bullshit and gross;
-
on the whole thing of Heaven and the children, their stories unravels really quickly as the two subplots start inching closer to each other in ways that are very interesting. the curtain really falls on a lot of The Mysteries in quick succession;
-
as the timeline becomes clearer, the plot as whole becomes even more fragmented but like, with you being able to piece things up as you snap between characters’ POVs.
What happens at the start of Ep 13 is really going to color if I’m gonna keep watching this show or not. I have to imagine it’s not going the way they build it up for the “cliffhanger” but, I guess we’ll see.
Started watching Summertime Rendering this weekend and it’s been a treat. Even sweeter when I noticed it’s actually 26 episodes. I managed to go in mostly blind having only seen 1 or 2 clips of some contextless action and every development has been a fun twist to lead into the next episode. It reminds me alot of watching higurashi back in the day.
i don’t even watch this show and i won’t watch this show but they sure did find a quick way to recast roiland
finished watching season 1 of spawn last night. it’s a weird mix of the big budget production quality of batman the animated series and the most pointlessly grim video nasty oav.
for some reason edgy 90s stuff is just great viewing for late hot summer nights. gotta hunt down some w/o/c ecw vhs rips
I have now completed summer time rendering. Damn near perfect show. I was about to call the ending to nice and tidy but they managed to end it on near perfect feel good note.
Part of me wanted it to continue on the timeline of the final battle to cement in the feelings of enduring grief and cherishing what extra moments you got with lost loved ones.
