I started watching Death Note as it’s on Peacock and I lose that in a few months and… I wonder if there is a term to describe that feeling when you watch a TV show where it is clear to you that the protagonist is a bad person but you aren’t quite sure if the show actually realizes that.

i think death note (when taken as a supernatural melodrama for teens) actually walks this line very, very well. i will be interested to see your take on it if you finish it.

Bonkers has some real Don Bluth energy but it doesn’t look like he was directly involved as far as a cursory bit of research shows.
I like the characters a lot, the episodes are horribly paced and should have probably been 11 minutes instead of 22. Every episode really drags in the middle, at least in what I’ve watched so far. I think I can tell why I never watched this much as a kid.

the original batch of Bonkers episodes (post-Raw Toonage, where he debuted) were so bad that Disney immediately put a second batch of episodes into production that make up the majority of the show’s run
if you saw episodes with Miranda, the tall blonde lady cop, congrats, you got the dud
yes I am presupposing here that the Lucky episodes are objectively good

I’m watching the Lucky episodes as it turns out. I do feel like he’s a better character than Miranda based on my hazy memory of her episodes. And his family is great. Miranda shows up as a receptionist of sorts in one of these episodes which is kinda funny.
But I think my point stands and most of these episodes would benefit from being shorter.
Let me revise and say some. A few of them are starting to actually go places, after some of the early ones were a bit painful.
