I’ve fallen off of new trigun very quickly. The first ep had promise but the second felt pretty dull for Trigun, it all looks too clean and lacking the over the top-ness of the manga.
Speaking of bad adaptations for all the effort that clearly went into translating Makoto Yukimura’s corpus to the small screen they both do a really bad job! I even prefer the inertness of Planetes’s boring anime designs over mappa’s titanification of my favourite ongoing comic, really sucks.
This is a pretty bad season so far but I really like Fire Hunter despite a love/hate relationship with Oshii (mostly hate). Really cool that this is showing the same season as the new cour of To Your Eternity as there’s a very novelistic quality with their writing and animation that’s a compelling throughline, excited to watch more each week.

I was so heartbroken when I watched the first episode of Vinland Saga, like how the fuck could they screw up something so good? Planetes was at least watchable if inferior to the comic. Vinland Saga’s adaptation is a crime.

Damn what an unnecessary change. Between that and Milly being missing (and changing Meryl’s job from insurance adjuster to news reporter) I have a lot of beefs before I have even watched an episode.

Coming off the show, its pacing is pure whiplash. Feels unhinged to introduce this cast, major villains especially, with nothing but escalation. No idea what they’re doing with these pieces.

nuTrigun is a joy to watch in motion but I am not feeling the pacing. It feels like watching a whole movie squeezed into a tv size block.
