watched ep. 3 of Chainsaw Man last night. the act of watching this show is enjoyable, but i can’t get over the feeling that i keep waiting for something interesting to happen, and the deeper suspicion that maybe that isn’t coming.
don’t know how long they’re going to stretch the series out, but the manga itself went interesting places pretty quick

Chainsaw Man was one of those comics that was best read week to week. After a certain point it starts moving so fast in many different directions that you felt like each chapter was going to be the last before it got canceled. I think this was around the time Demon Slayer finished and some other new titles got the boot so it was really hard to think it wasn’t in a mad dash to find some way to wrap up.

Lol at the chainsaw man having another extended fight scene because there’s going to be like 3-4 episodes of no action happening.

on the new chainsaw man, it bummed me out how they extended the Leach fight. the timing felt so weird and i expected them to end the episode on makima introducing the gun devil.
i did enjoy how they spent time just showing hayakawa on his morning routine though. the whole coffee and cigarettes for breakfast thing is cute
is that gundam witch show any good… i didnt realize it had 2d mecha animation like which alone kind of puts it in a rareified category for anime productions now

it’s not technically spectacular but it’s very competent and the yuri utena plot is nice and novel. also unabashedly political, like, picket signs reading capitalism kills
character design is pokémon adjacent (matter of taste)

I’m enjoying Witch from Mercury well enough but I also feel like I’m waiting for the story to really get going and we’re about halfway through the season already.
I’m mostly immune to dumb anime hair because my girlfriend is a Digimon fan but I did have a whole moment in the episode where Slutette lets her hair down and she just has like, a shaggy mullet. Girl, that’s perfectly fine hair you could just wear it like that!

the hair in witch from mercury pisses me off for some reason. suletttes mom almost has a rocking mullet but she has like the house MD ‘it took me two hours to make it look messy’ on top and it’s distracting. like everyone has two hairstyles at the same time. indecisive hair is distracting
I couldn’t finish the sixth episode. the main character keeps balling her fists and being completely stupid while people propose to her. oh great, harem anime. I’m just gonna skip stuff until I see people screaming about some game changing war crime and maybe come back to it but I dunno
I liked gundam age better than this show

theres nothing in witch from mercury so far that you couldnt get meaningfully from any other gundam. Like if you compare the first 6 eps of zeta or even the original show to the first 6 eps of witch from mercury there’s no contest. amuro gets insanely traumatized immediately and kamille goes on a fuckin rampage. our brave main character suletta mercury has been going uwu and acting like a baby while the infinitely more competent girl shes getting married to isnt allowed to be the main character. will this series ever write a woman worth a shit that it doesnt kill or sideline ASAP?? there was a whole episode where the robot fighting looked bad and it made me sad.

watched a few episodes of the chainsaw man anime im like kind of blown away by what a production it is… unique credits sequences each week??? insane amounts of swag couldnt ask for more
