(Spoilers for Wander over Yonder)
fuck.
at least plenty Star vs coming with its weird unelaborated universe
Yep, Alien Flamenco definitely threw me. Reveal him at the end of one episode and deal with him completely in the next. Oh and by the way no more supervillains anymore! Not sure how they managed to make this work but this is solidly on my recommend list, even with the ending arc being as incredibly ridiculous as it was.
I would say it’s worth recommending especially because of how ridiculous the ending arc was.
The best part about the ending arc is that a certain revelation makes watching the show again even more ridiculous and saddening
HE WAS TEXTING TO HIMSELF WHILE DRIVING THE FLAMENCO HUMMER INTO THE ROCKET
Oh my god, that was the best because it was something I predicted as a joke in episode 1 and it took 25 episodes to discover I was totally right. Such a satisfying payoff.
Hey some of the recent Adventure Time epsidoes have been pretty good
Right? I keep trying to get one of my friends back into it because this season has been solid, but he won’t listen to me D:
i will forever maintain that AT is still a very good show even if it’s arguably past its prime
So Parasyte’s Toonami run ends in a few weeks
Is it wrong that I’m desperately hoping that it gets replaced by Cross Ange? I want to see how a saner anime audience reacts to that trainwreck of a masterpiece
I miss Cross Ange
Honestly, that doesn’t sound like it’d be much of a departure from the kind of material Toonami’s been picking.
i finally watched over the garden wall and caught up in steven universe (both excellent). are there any other cartoon network prestige shows worth getting into?
Not really a favorite but Regular Show is a cartoon I don’t have to many negative feelings for. Enjoyment really comes down to how much nostalgia you have for 80s and 90s cultural paraphernalia and its brand of weirdness. But I haven’t watched in about a year or two so I dunno how it shaked out since then.
In other news, Konosuba got greenlit for a second season. I’m game for more idiots with gimmick builds in a table top fantasy land but structured by a DM that has only played video games.
I was gonna say “how are they going to stretch these characters to another ten episodes?” but then I remembered how much Slayers I’ve watched.
I like how Slayers finished its main story arc in the first 8 episodes and then spent the rest of the time doing filler.
Gravity Falls is excellent, so definitely give that a watch. Two very rewarding seasons, then a satisfying end.
I’ve been really enjoying Wander Over Yonder as well, but WoY is a lot more of a cartoon cartoon in the vein of Ren and Stimpy or Rocko’s Modern Life, where each episode is a self-contained wackadoodle of shenannigans with some occasional recurring story elements between them. Really great voice acting too.
Both shows have HomestarRunner’s Matt Chapman (one of the brothers Chaps) as a writer.
Regular Show does a pretty good job of capturing the weird aimlessness that comes after college/your teens and then amping up the insanity and absurdity of real life. I’m honestly kind of surprised little kids dig it as much as they do since it seems squarely aimed at bitter millennials and late gen-x’ers.
I haven’t seen Konosuba’s last episode yet but it’s good to hear that there will be more for people like me who can neither read Japanese or feel like finding LN translations. I’d honestly would rather have a bunch of episodes of these horrible people being horrible to each other with no plot than a bunch of boring characters stuck in a boring plot (which isn’t true since I’m still watching PSO2 but shhh).
if someone out there made a fan edit of konosuba that kept the good jokes but removed…everything else…i’d definitely watch it. i’m willing to forgive a lot for the premise “animated retelling of the worst tabletop campaign,” but the people i know who have actually been keeping up with it are lukewarm.
This is a real cool looking cartoon.
This was a childhood favorite of mine. I watched a vhs tape of this cartoon in particular over and over
