Yeah, a pretty satisfying end. Good seeing Hater get a few moments of beauty.
Definitely felt rushed, but it gave me what I wanted - character moments for Wander, Hater, Dominator, C Peeps, and Sylvia.
holy shit berserk is so fucking ugly
Production quality gradually gets better so that by the third movie (I’m assuming this is what you’re watching) the CG battles are not overly distracting.
The movies have some interesting strengths; they don’t convey horror and hatred of the mighty as well but they do illustrate the subtleties of Griffith’s longings and fall much better. Unfortunately that also comes at the expense of Guts’ characterization; his rage and drive is much more inscrutable in the show.
Just read the manga, every single adaption is riddled with disgusting cg. Even the parts that aren’t cg don’t do the original justice, the manga has some great art.
first volume of Berserk is real bad though. Like, “Can’t believe anyone likes this shit” bad.
It doesn’t get any good until the start of the Golden Age arc.
The new TV adaptation started today.
It’s 3DCGI on a far, far lower budget than the 3DCG movies.
It’s really depressing when you catch glimpses of good hand drawn animation and think of what could’ve been if the whole show was made with that. I’ve only seen the three movies that cover the golden age arc and no place I can find sells the manga digitally so this is my only ‘legal’ course of action to consume more berserk stuff. At 15 bucks a pop and over twenty volumes, I just don’t have that kind of money or space for that. Need to check the main library in town someday and see if its part of the graphic novel section.
I actually started reading at the Golden Age arc, and was going in pretty blind. Really added some impact when Zod showed up since I had no idea about how supernatural things were going to get.

Checking Berserk because we have at long last an adaptation that doesn’t cover the Golden Age. I don’t know if it’s the crunchyroll video player or the show itself, but the way the pan shots stutter in unbearable to me.
Quite hype for Mob Psycho 100 on the other hand.
yeah the mismatch with the hand drawn close ups is depressing, Reminds me of I don’t know, say a jrpg with shit models and animations but the characters portraits are so nice?
