i feel like an internet -gate happens when shitheads learn those who work in an INDUSTRY have skill/project overlaps. and its not because theyre in the same goddamn field and working together and sharing skills, its because of nepotism and corruption, bc that’s all they see in their conservative parents lives and politics around them. its dumb. its so dumb. people work together. get over it.

This is exactly Luke Weber’s assertion. Part of his big scandal was, when working on Gravity Falls, he learned that Alex Hirsch substantially hired people he’d worked with in the past when building the crew for his new show.
Also that he really felt Hirsch didn’t deserve his girlfriend and that she would be much better off dating Weber instead, and that was so unfair.

(For those unaware, one of the most prominent storyboarders on Steven Universe—and one of I think only two to last the show’s entire run—and Rebecca Sugar’s husband and early collaborator on the show/OK KO! showrunner.)
From what I understand recently a new cartoon pilot was released that was very much in the vein of Chris Oney cartoons which to most people is pretty synonymous with “Newgrounds-style” these days. People started pointing this out and since the biggest fans of those sort of toons tend to have been some of the most vocal critics of “CalArts-style” they were quick to defend it (with eerily similar arguments to what people use when bringing up how calling an entire industry CalArts-style is pretty ridiculous) which only spurred people on when they realized they had found a sore spot and once again a line in the sand has been drawn to shout across.
