Cartoons (Part 1)

,

I need the Eizouken Soundtrack. By Last week! The planning song slaps especially once the guitar just drops everything into it.

For real. Tunes pop into my head from time to time during the week and it feels great whenever they do.

The eizouken ost is not yet out but you can pick up oorutaichi’s partial back catalog on his bandcamp

Though his best album, “Cosmic Coco, Singing for a Billion Imu’s Hearty Pi”, isnt on there either.

I’ll upload it if you all would like

So, the last Steven Universe hiatus ends tonight at 7:00. Starting with what seems to be a much-fabled and anticipated episode.

Two episodes every Friday this month, until the 27th when the final four air.

And then, for now at least, that’s the end.

I am really not feeling how Castlevania is trying to be Game of Thrones for Airbender fans but is just tripping all the way through it.

All I wanted was a dense season of Simon wrecking Dracula’s home for 4 or so episodes and then 5 more for his redemption arc to overcome his hero complex. At this point I don’t think I want it any more. Leave Simon out of this.

Castlevania is supposed to be a celebration of B Movie horrors with some other gotchic imagery to tie it all together. The monster designs are also the most boring generic things. They don’t even pull fodder from the game when they can. All we got this season was a random wolf man, a different interpretation of Legion and Malachi. I can’t remember if spider chimera archer and wing giant were game pulls but they at least had some decent design work on them.

Dai Sato doing an Altered Carbon anime.

Yeah season three of Castlevania was hella weird. Just absolutely tonally all over the place, even more so than past seasons. It seemed like the writers were just constantly writing themselves into a corner and just making any old shit happen.

I haven’t seen any of this beyond a few clips, but isn’t it the case that the first two are adapted from a script that has been sitting around for a decade, and the new season is the first thing written from scratch for the show?

Pacing’s off. They aren’t sure of their themeing especially when it’s split between so many different perspectives that weaving them together is pretty much impossible. It almost manages to settle on flavours of betrayal but only the two Forgemasters are built up enough from previous seasons to make that land. Alucard and the twins was especially egregious because there was nothing to connect their thinking until it happened and their explanation was unsatisfactory in my mind. The Judge just sort of all happens off camera without saying more than he dislikes that he was forced to come back to where he grew up so lol kill the young ones occasionally with a trap.

Which is a shame, because while I was still high off the finale fight I thought they had a definite sense of style that’s unique to them and wanted to continue seeing more of it. Continued inspection of the season has soured that.

Those first two seasons constitute a whole so that wouldn’t surprise me. This one is mostly setting up whatever they plan to do next with these characters, and I, for one, am thankful it mostly all turns to shit for everyone except the walking hecatomb who got to chill out with Lance Reddick and Gregor Samsa.

Hope it’s good but I won’t know until I see an episode I think!

That trailer mostly communicates that it’s not as kid-friendly as Adventure Time.
