Hello Select Button. It’s me, Bachelor, from Bachelor Soft, and I am here today to ask you to please sign up for the most exciting sporting event of 2023: THE SELECT BUTTON KOSHIEN.
In Japan, Kōshien (甲子園) generally refers to the two annual baseball tournaments played by high schools nationwide culminating at a final showdown at Hanshin Kōshien Stadium in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, Japan.
In America, where I live, Select Button Koshien refers to a CPU controlled baseball tournament where all the big leaguers have been replaced by Select Button posters.
The tournament will be run in Konami’s MLB Power Pros 2007 for Nintendo Wii. Why Power Pro?
Because:
- It’s cute.
- It’s good.
- Its players are all bobblehead blobs.
- It’s easy to mod.
Check it out, took me like 45 seconds to turn the Mets pink and give them a new logo.
This means we can have our own unique teams and jerseys and crowd members and I’m not listing anything else because I’m only one man, there’s only so much I can mod for fuck’s sake, but if you wanna lend a hand lemme know okay, lemme know.
Oh yeah and I’m gonna make virtual baseball cards for everyone who signs up.
I am not going to start modding shit or dreaming up teams until we got players, though! That’s why I need YOU to sign up now. Here is how you do it!!:
MANDATORY:
- Add your player’s name to the google doc or just vote in this poll and I’ll add your username to the game. Also feel free to add fictional characters, or notable figures throughout history! These will all be subject to tournament organizer approval but chances are we’ll let any old shit through cuz I want as many teams as possible for this dumb bullshit.
- PUT ME IN, COACH! I WANT MY USERNAMED ASSIGNED TO A CPU CONTROLLED BASEBALLER.
OPTIONAL:
If you want your player to look a certain way please fill the orange fields on the google doc. For hair style and color please use this handy key I made:
For example: if you wanted to look like a green haired Lupin III (from Monkey Punch’s Lupin III) you’d enter 18-N. And if you wanted to look like Peppermint Patty (from Charles Schulz’s Peanuts) you go with 6-F. Got it?! Easy!!
For skin tone just type what color you want, there are too many to take pics of, they’re all realistic shades though. For glasses, earrings, or facial hair just type YES if you want some or leave blank if you don’t!! NOTE: THERE’S NO ROLLIE FINGERS MUSTACHE DON’T BOTHER ASKING FOR ONE OKAY, SORRY. If there’s a jersey number you fancy you can put it in there too.
Oh yeah you can also add your walkout music if you want. That’s a song that plays when your batter takes the plate. Chances are I’ll forget to play it until you’ve already struck out but hey the option’s there okay, why not take it.
If there’s a player from the MLB 2007 season you’d like to be based on post it in this thread, otherwise I’m just gonna assign stats randomly
And that’s it! That’s all you have to do! I will do all the actual, hardcore, backbreaking work. Well, me and @miffy! This was actually all her idea so give her a round of applause, thanks miffy, thanks for suggesting we all play baseball together.
Once I have an idea of how many players we got I’ll put together teams and choose a date and eventually it will all be streamed on twitch. Let’s get as many players as we can! I want to get delirious from watching too much baseball! Here’s the google doc again just in case you missed it the first two times!!
