Sometimes it’s hard to talk about videogames because they’re so darn long. You what’s immediate, ubiquitous, and easy to form impressions of? MUSIC!
Post FOUR of your favorite pieces of original videogame music with youtube links. If we get at least 64 entries I’ll run a single-elimination weekly bracket with several matchups a week.
If anyone posts a “high quality rip” I love you but I will disregard its entry.
you have no idea how happy i was to find in this forum a community of people who also understand that armored core for answer is maybe the best videogame ever made
oh god more of these polls. dunno if i can take it.
i’ve fussed around with listening to too much game music for this to ever not be incredibly difficult for me.
i don’t want to be all Tim Rogers “i have scientifically determined the best choices” but on the other hand these are not decisions i make lightly. i make them with much pain. 4 is such a limited number. if it were 10 i could be a little more authoritative. 4 feels like i’m picking a bit at random.
but anyway:
Treasure Hunter G - Emperor of Balladry (composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto)
i just wanna say that i consider to be Emperor of Balladry to be the most perfect piece of game music.
Deus Ex - The Synapse (composed by Alexander Brandon)
Super Mario RPG - Beware the Forest’s Mushrooms (composed by Yoko Shimomura)
Forever Kingdom - Forgotten Valley (composed by Kota Hoshino)
i soooo badly want to post at least two more here because there’s gotta be a Tim Follin or Stephane Picq track that fits in here but… blugh. can’t think of a specific one right now.
