I think I’ve told the story of Intellivision BurgerTime hooking my dad to the extent that he had to get stys removed from his eyes as he wasn’t blinking enough during Burger Madness

and because of that we had no videogames in the house until I started saving years-worths of lawnmower money to buy a GameBoy

the rain world twitter account has been doing a countdown to something, starting from five (五) in july 6. it’s now at two.

it’s probably just going to be the v1.7 PC patch people have been talking of since the game came out on switch . . . hope it’s some new shit though

where my rainworld people at!!!

While their harsh nature prevented them from being as successful as their Kickstarter augured, it looks like they did well enough to stay alive and keep working, which is what I feared. Because they deserve to find an audience

Rain World is tedious to play but does atmosphere and ecosystem so successfully that it’s hard to fault it. I should see more of that game.

The name really got my hopes up that I was about to click on an Outfoxies spirutal successor.

Also, if this is an non-linear Metroidvania then what counts as a linear Metroidvania?

im a rain world person and very excited about absolutely anything new.

i remember reading somewhere that they had planned to do 3 expansions for it. they already did one with 1.5. i hope it’s not just 1.7 on pc, which like, didn’t add anything too significant from what i read minus the endings and maybe a couple new creatures?

there’s a huge mod people are making for it that i’m looking forward to: https://twitter.com/MoreSlugcats which i’ll try out when it comes out someday… but i really want something new from the devs themselves!!!

also rain world is the perfect example of a non-linear metroidvania. just drop me into a world and let me figure out shit for myself. don’t empower me

Worst kept secret announced: Switch Lite

  • The same internal specs
  • Slightly smaller screen, slightly lighter, 30 minutes better battery life
  • Does not in any way support TV-out, handheld only
  • No detachable controllers, device has a real d-pad, can still sync other controllers like the Pro one to it wirelessly
  • No HD rumble or IR sensor
  • No kickstand so does not support “Tabletop mode” but not sure how that effects game compatibility

Comes out September 20 for $200.

If a game doesn’t support handheld mode, you can play it by syncing a wireless controller. Sounds like tabletop mode just without a kickstand.

Considering a New 2DS XL still has an MSRP of $149.99 (I think), this looks like just about the best version of this it could be. Makes the idea of local multi-screen multiplayer a lot more feasible, and I’d imagine this is a much better solution for households with children who might want their own device come Pokemon time. I can imagine a few years down the road picking one of these up so I can have a Switch specifically for traveling with.

I really want that turquoise one, actually. That’s about the most appealing console color (to me) ever.

It’s a really tiny screen for local, one-screen multiplayer, but I like that that’s possible. Just need to prop the fucker up.

Wonder if we’ll see even more upgrades/ports of 3/DS games for the Switch now.

same (well, I’m interested in the switch as a handheld, I don’t have one)

I gotta handle one in person though because my PSPgo taught me that I’m an old man who needs big screens on his handhelds
