This has largely been my experience, but I always just chalked it up to people just like different things.
When I was a kid living in Hawaii my Grandma visited from the mainland and was like “Oh, dude, your cousins in Utah are going fuckin crazy for this game BurgerTime, you’d fuckin love it”* and bought us a copy of BurgerTime for our Intellivison.
I thought it was alright. Was more into my lackluster Donkey Kong port. I’ve tried to play Burger Time on other platforms since and have always found it too dull to get into.
*My grandma speaks nothing like this

the official sequels are Peter Pepper’s Ice Cream Factory and Super Burger Time, both of which are probably not as good as the insanity in that Diner video

burgertime is such a cute concept and I’m disappointed they never like, acknowledge that the burgertime guy is just really small which is why the burgers are so big, which is what I used to think and prolly why it’s been stuck in my head all these years
