somebody redid nes ultima 3 with the sprites from nes ultima 4, which was the best looking ultima 4, and a lot of other improvements

Well if you want something even more Custom Robo then the original director of that series is now making something new but very similar with Synaptic Drive:
Seems to be mostly multiplayer focused though (might be entirely so actually?) with online crossplay between its two version of PC and Switch. Comes out May 28 worldwide. Still interested in more of this type @slime ?

I must admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Custom Robo mainly for knock downs lasting so long. Also for having some fun movement and melee options were usually edge case options. I only played a few hours of the Gamecube game and the DS game.
I do love a “We’ll make our own game with black jack and hookers” story so I do want to see how this turns out.

Had some real hope that the camera would start spinning around during that first bit of running animation to reveal something looking like those recent Bamco anime arena fighters at least with how much they replicate the 2D look but… I guess not.
