every time i see one of these i always take a while just to ogle all the art in the trailer yet at the same time get the feeling that i will probably never play it
curious what “one of these” means in this context… if you mean doujin games i kind of understand, if you mean indie metrovanias i Extremely undestand
team ladybug’s style is pretty much just linear platformers with ever-so-slight content off the critical path rather than full on igavania. their smt promo game synchronicity prologue is a fine example

i meant metrovanias, though i was also thinking about Touhou Luna Nights specifically. that sounds cool though, if they are more brisk and purposefully structured. i got worried at the thought of delving through endless permutations of rooms very similar to the ones in the trailer

Honestly a game Exactly Like Sotn, Except Lodoss War is about 1000% more appealing to me than the idea of some other kind of metrovania that tries to be creative or whatever
