DLC is some of the best content

DLC has one of my least favorite bosses in the game, but that was Ludwig who you beat already. It also two of my favorite bosses in the series who you’re coming up on soon (and two other bosses that are, ehh, fine)

It’s got some of the strongest levels in the series too, and a handful of new weapons that are universally powerful and cool as hell

Play it!!

Great, thanks! It’s cool to have my videoholic support group

By the way, my weapon of choice has been the Wirligig Saw (with a strength-arcane build). Should I spend time to bring the Ludwig’s Moonlight Sword or the Logarius Wheel up to +9 (with the consequent time investment, considering how rare Blood stone chunks) or the Whirligig Saw is better than those two (for my build)?

The saw is more than good enough, it hits like a truck with a strength build. The holy moonlight sword is extremely cool and good though, if you ever do a new game plus with that file you should use it

the wheel could be worth it. it barely gains any damage from arcane stat so it works even as just a pure strength weapon.

the moonlight’s physical damage works best with an investment into both strength and skill, but it also gets a not-insignificant buff to its glowy form from arcane. not sure if this means it’s worth it to you, since the physical damage is a lot bigger than the arcane, so without skill investment it might not be great? it’s kind of a three stat weapon, probably the only one in the game.

oh, and something else worth noting is that the DLC has some of the coolest (and best) weapons in the game. My favorite is the beast hunter’s saif.

The pizza cutter is arguably the single best weapon in the entire game so you’re liable to be underwhelmed by anything else

the saif is extremely fun if you like transforming attacks, you basically hook into dudes and jump toward them then slice and jump back. it’s like a reverse Scorpion. I’M OVER THERE!!

yes. probably the most satisfying weapon they ever made for any of these games. i don’t even know if it’s ACTUALLY good, i just know i love charging it, smashing it into an enemy and seeing it stick to them as the blades spin. life bar evaporated.

yeah! that weapon has a really cool moveset. really like the forward step on the first attack in folded mode! it’s a bummer i haven’t actually gotten around to really upgrade and use all the dlc weapons cause most of them have really, really great feeling attacks. the whip sword you can get kicks the whip cains ass.

thinking about how tons of people (including me) looked at the whip cain and thought that looked cool and started with it, only to make the beginning of the game way harder for no good reason

I also really love the Gatling.
I terminated Ebrietas with it. It was extremely satisfying.

I have put a Blood Rock into the Whirligig Saw.
I have only another one and, given i don’t plan to do any chalice dungeons (due to my hate for randomized stuff), I need to choose if I should put the second Blood Rock into the Holy Moonlight Sword or the Gatling itself.

Btw, Ludwig has been the hardest boss I have fought until now. A bitch. I needed to be over level 100 to kill it.
Still, i like it a lot because it reminds me of a living Guernica

I fought the final boss of the DLC probably over 60 times.

I guess it’s not one of the “good” bosses?

No way, he rules, he’s just really tough

i wrecked his shit with the saw last time i played though

it’s the best one in the dlc. partly for the same reasons that you might end up fighting it 60 times. not specifically because it’s tough, but why it’s tough. it’s like a lot like a proto-sekiro fight

Yeah that’s no metric for good or bad with Souls bosses. Some players one-shot bosses others spend weeks fighting, and in some runs you one-shot or take weeks to kill a boss that you took weeks or one-shot on past runs. There is one DLC boss I always heard was super hard and I saved for last but then I just steamrolled him right away it was pathetic.
