man, tassadar is actually kind of brokenly good with the following build, but people still whine about him if you pick him in HL because they don’t know how to adapt to anything other than the groupthink HL meta
you have massive burst mitigation on a 5s cooldown, ridiculous 2.5s (longer than a muradin stun) zone control on a 12s cooldown after 10, and you become close to (at 13) and then completely unkillable at 16
storm shield is still one of the best talents in the game, and can keep your whole team alive
if you don’t have an auto-attack heavy team, it’s worth considering mental acuity at 4 for vision; very useful on maps like battlefield of eternity with all the sight-blockers in the middle of the map
a well-placed force wall just wins you so many fights, it’s absurd. and if you screw up, it’s back up again before the fight’s over
I think a lot of people don’t feel like they’re really contributing much to the team as tassadar because none of his skills are in-your-face good, but your team basically doesn’t die and then you force wall and whoops you won the fight ok
artanis tanky build is high-skill but seems pretty potent if you have other sources of CC
1 reactive parry
4 templar’s zeal
7 psionic synergy
10 suppression pulse*
13 phase bulwark
16 shield surge
20 force of will
this helps a lot with the fundamental artanis issue: he needs to auto-attack to survive, but he’s one of the most easily kited heroes in the game and has no real CC or gap closer. the synergy between your 4 and 7 is pretty absurd, giving you massive cdr on your trait if you can hit multiple heroes with blade dash, whose own cooldown is cut in half when under 50% HP. this allows you to get your shield back more quickly without needing to put yourself in kill range all the time.

this can be situational; purifier mitigates/discourages e.g. ETC’s mosh pit or li ming’s disintegrate
i think i drew out two dozen ults in two games as murky (possibly an exaggeration but that’s what it felt like)
i feel like such a troll, knocking down a keep singlehandedly and slime-puffer-octo comboing anyone foolish enough to try and solo me post-10
it did take a minute to realize the proper combo is actually to wait until your puffer has fully landed and activates before ulting, as i learned the hard way when li ming tele’d away a frame before detonation
yeah, murky has always felt to me just a Bad Time to play against, because murky is NEVER the target you want to focus but if you don’t focus the murky you’re just going to continually eat slimes which do a pretty significant amount of damage! pretty much the troll of hots, honestly
the big gamble with murky is whether you can split push well enough to get the other team to commit to taking you out – if you’re playing murky right, you’re consistently forcing the enemy team to make a decision between giving up pressure in lane to take you out or eventually losing forts/keeps/whatever. AND the fact that murky can pretty much solo any merc camp after 10 (maybe even earlier) is pretty crazy
this is actually not supposed to happen based on current QM rules, if it does happen, it’ll be in something less than 1% of games, and usually late at night when player pop is low.
I figured we couldn’t win doing exciting things like “attacking the enemy team” so I split pushed all game. we lost anyway but I had some stupid high exp contribution number
maybe if I keep playing after this weekend. but I’m just a random scrub messing around right now.
I did that tassadar build. seemed pretty good but the enemy team was mostly ignoring me so I probably could have dropped dimensional warp or whatever it was. anivia wall is pretty good in this game
the key after 16 is to really get in there in the backline and harass their ranged dps (tassadar out-damages every support except maybe kharazim and rehgar, depending on build), and when they finally get fed up with it, you have two d-shifts to get away, and at 16 both will heal you, so you have basically a second life bar and 6-ish seconds to completely reposition while stealthed. you can pretty much start tanking shit at that point
i probably should have mentioned that tassadar is pretty hard to play well. you have to be able to predict really well who is going to take damage, you’ve got to consistently farm globes early-game (use your E if the wave is pushed too far), and you have to play aggressively enough to get targeted but not so aggressive you die
teams also consistently don’t understand how he works and how to work with him, but ehhh such is the groupthink meta
