Has anyone managed to kick the association football ball into the goal? I managed to kick it so deep into the woods that I couldn’t find it again so this is another thing I want to try on another save
my brother did this and nate says “yay” lol
lol that’s exactly the amount of hidden content I was hoping for
Anyone else got past the sandcastle interior yet?
Easily the most brutal area of the game so far, extremely unforgiving sand physics meant that I was stuck in the same room for like an hour
i gotta get this game, I liked the demo a lot
Spent another hour or so this evening making several attempts to the get the cup to the fire tower. Noticed that if you don’t fall down much and just consistently keep Nate moving forward eventually his onesie gets soaked in sweat. Nice detail.
Kind hit a wall on the route I’m taking to the tower. Instead of moving to the right where the flame is which is where you’re supposed to go I’m taking the left path. I can cross the first two mud slide gaps but then I reach a third and there’s no clear way to get past it so I’m thinking maybe I need to go back and just continue on from the right path I’d be on anyway. Or maybe keep risking trying to climb up the rocks at the side of the mountain at the third gap which might yield a path forward but might be a red herring. There is so much mud. I refuse to look up solutions right now since I just want to see how far I can make it just winging it. This is a good podcast game.
I’m getting pretty good at the controls. I can move pretty quickly. I can walk backward. I can also save myself from slips occasionally. Nate has insanely great balance and will almost always reliably stand bolt upright as long as he’s looking down at his feet. If he’s looking up or around while sticking a leg out is when he starts to get unbalanced but even then he can regain it if you’re quick enough.
Weird how relaxing this is to be a part of the conversation between this man’s bare feet and all these muddy rocks. I’m looking forward to seeing what else is out there in the world after I conquer this fire tower.
It’s good. I did have to quit after falling a bunch, I did have a baby chicken follow me for a while and was worried something bad was going to happen to it, but eventually it wandered off
I had to turn the music off after two or three bird squawk samples layered on top of each other it was so annoying.
the basement room gets more run down the further in the game you advance, what does it mean???
My partner is playing this and I’m watching. She’s loving it, though last night she got pretty tilted trying to get the cup. That last rock you have to scale is a doozy!
I’m really impressed with this one. As an art-comedy that that shows great thoughtfulness about its medium and pushes its limitations in interesting ways, it reminds me of Jaques Tati’s Playtime. They should add a DLC Mr. Hulot costume for Nate.
Forcing myself to climb one of the towers to get used to this game’s try/fail/try/fail structure and the way that the towers seem set up so that you fall all the way down if you miss the last big hurdle is so sinister
this game’s homoerotic energy is off the charts, from the pantsless donkey men to nate being all caked up.
erasing like an hour of progress just to jump off a diving board
I think my main problem with this game is if you whiff a bunch of climbs and fall down a bunch your ability to keep progressing in the session is diminished because of the built up frustration and you have to stop and take a break. Climbs I could do reliably in a session become impossible after a while. I feel like there’s a warmup time, then a finite proficient period, then eventually I wear down and become useless at navigating.
That’s how I am when I’m bowling. It’s kind of impressive to me how this game hits on that level of physical coordination.
thats how i am with literally anything that takes concentration. i have a point where i get too tilted and cannot go forward without a break. as someone who constantly needs to practice and be very mindful of moderation these kinds of activities can be a good reminder, but i fucking hate it WHILE im being reminded
watching gramps play this now and its so funny. the little penises everywhere keep cracking me up
Last night I took a different route and almost got the cup to the tower but dropped it and it landed in a spot I was not going to be able to get to easily, if at all, so I deleted my save and restarted. Grabbed on my third attempt and then took it up to the tower relatively easily.
Started to do a bit of exploring but decided I’d just speed run through the camp sites and see how quickly I can reach the ending. Then I’ll go back on a replay and explore things further. That’s the idea at least we’ll see how well I stick to it. It is so tempting to just wander off toward something that looks interesting because you’ll probably be rewarded with a little scene where Jim pops up or something.
I have turned into a “take a break” guy over the years. That meme someone made hit close to home lol but it is true for pretty much any activity that demands concentration. You don’t recognize when you’re getting fatigued because it happens gradually so when you recognize it happening you just gotta take a little break. I first noticed this when I would throw myself against a spot in a game giving me trouble and I’d stop for a while to complain about it and then when I went back to it I’d pass that part easily. At first I thought it was the complaining that got me past it but then I realized it was the short break from the frustration that was doing it.
i said a lot of good things in this thread but i do want to make something clear
this game does not give a fuck about your psyche. it’s not particularly friendly, just has a great sense of humor. it’s best enjoyed in the company of others, playing it alone can get dark lol
You can skateboard in the pool in the desert. I tried for a little bit, I think a better person could do a real ollie or kickflip given enough time, I was able to ride it a very little bit
I found a donkey hat. Can’t wait to see if I get any comments on it the next time I talk to any donkey guys.
I also found a bathroom. Best one in the map according to Ethan lol.
