I still can’t believe how much tomato sauce is in Wolverine. and on Wolverine. Just covered in the sauce.

The start of this had me fooled that they were finally making a period piece racing game (which has to be coming any day now, considering how miserable to drive EV supercvars are), but I’ll also be excited for a new Stuntman game.

Wolverine is like every AAA western action game from the past 20 years, down to the NPC barks and the level layout and all. I saw wolverine slice up some metal and just wanted to play Metal Gear Rising instead.

The only thing the AAA game can do is gruesome death animations. Like it actually makes me sick now.

Pretty much already forgot most of the stuff shown, but I guess here are my hot takes:

Not wild about how Rayman looks? I guess it’s neat they’re…remaking Legends, I guess? They should update the Steam versions of it and Origins.

I liked the way one of the yokai hunters casually skipped up the wall in that Nakamura game, but it doesn’t look like anything I’d play.

Wolverine looks like an Insomniac Marvel game, so I’d probably be bored pretty quickly.

Lara wearing some sort of skin tight quilted body suit is wild. Just give her some clothes!

Hooted at seeing Pope and Arish in the Resonant footage.

Dynasty Warriors 3 looks like fun I guess.

God of War Laufey is probably the only thing I’d be really interested in playing. I’m a sucker for the last two God of War games, though I dunno how they’re gonna thread the needle with the mixed dead god pantheon. Is Laufey gonna fight her dead father in law? Probably.

If Sony wants to send me a PS5 or I can win one from Taco Bell (do they still do that, in the summer…) I guess I’ll play it. Otherwise Sony needs to backtrack on their no more PC stance or I’m just gonna watch it on YouTube. I’m not paying $700 to play a God of War spinoff.

Wolverine is probably supposed to be fighting the Reavers or whatever instead of normal people, but damn that trailer still felt way more like a Faust game or something.

If I’m remembering it right, wasn’t the point of that MCP BWS Weapon X story that once outside of the training simulation and under his own volition, Wolverine didn’t murder his captors like they made him do in the simulation?

i think insomniac could have made a great Cyclops yakuza-like game based on bendis’ uncanny x-men. like 33% of it could be solving puzzles with optic blasts, 33% doing x-men management simulator, 33% action-adventure. but its all over now

Sony has the chance to do the funniest thing ever if the game is somehow set in 34 AD.

okay but does Ubi still have money to license the songs for the music levels

hey it’s insane they’re touching the UbiArt games because those still look good and surely, surely those were made with vector art so you just made artists do a bunch of work recreating a game that still looks gorgeous and scales wildly as is (it had to, there was a Vita version)

also hi I’m buying the Lady God of War game because cube. cube is my kind of stupid. video games are stupid! video games should be stupider! I am going to be the change I want in the world!

Oof there are like three big games coming in September that I will want to play. Wolverine, Control and whatever the third one was that I can’t remember right now because I just watched a bunch of trailers in a row but when I saw it I was like yeah I’d play that. I’ll have to look it up later. There are already some great games that have come out already this year. 2026 is turning out to be a good year for video games

I am watching this God of War Laufey reveal and is this a prequel/sidestory? Like, it’s happening during the events of God of War 2018? Is that how time works in the afterlife? I’ve only played the first hour of Ragnorok I guess I should finish that before this comes out.

Where the fuck is that weird space game by the zombie game people?

Lara Croft skin tight quilted snow suit lol

Wolverine is surprisingly unappealing, I don’t really mind ultraviolence if it’s fun or camp but the fact that it so closely resembles regular superhero stealth clearing a room until you have to fight it out etc., coupled with a series of almost exclusively not-exciting lateral moves from their last work basically puts it in TLOU1 → TLOU2 territory for me, where even though I have a high opinion of their previous game and I’m not above the whole AAA production model in any way, it winds up being a complete regression and I just ignore it.

and Mom of War is almost certainly gonna wind up being cross-gen (along with, speaking of which, whenever Naughty Dog’s thing shows up next year) which really does almost totally blank the PS5 generation for me

I like that Stuntman is basically a Universal Studios ride that’s been licensed to oblivion now though, that could actually be the right kind of dumb fun

Rayman Legends was very good when it came out, reminded me of how/why I liked Sonic Racing Transformed too much too, that was when Nintendo hadn’t quite gotten good at making Nintendo games again and they were really carrying that torch in the meantime. not really convinced they’ll add anything but more people should play it, it’s neat

also idk why but Control and Onimusha both looked kind of bad in this showcase yesterday when I’m already like, fairly committed to trying both. going to be fun to get those + Ace Combat + Galactic Racer + Phantom Blade Zero all in like the same month and then barely have time to play more than a couple hours of each until Thanksgiving

I wonder if Castlevania or Goldman or Star Wars XCom will sneak out in August
