none of the adaptations have really captured the barely-parsable expressive chaos of the source material tremendously well but pacing was not a problem with the david prod stuff imo, never a slog

itā€™s true but stardust crusaders honestly sucks and I wanted to keep watching

I rather enjoyed Where In The World Is Dio Brandiego

Battle Tendency is still the best arc though

yeah well I utterly adored the first two chapters and I havenā€™t watched A New Anime Series in probably a decade so I hardly disagree so far

Back in the day Part 3 was the spark that most people were guided to for getting in. At least for people like me who just wanted a comic with a strong dynamic hook for the powers and fights. Stands where very different. The power was outside the character and was also a different character in some cases. Even in 1 on 1 fights, each fighter was fighting in tandem with another body. Stands were also a way to draw more info out of a character from seeing how it reflected of the stand owner. So even in a Monster of the Week set up each enemy had presence and you could extrapolate enough to get a feel of their character.

I do enjoy the tone and weightiness of the OVA but you miss some things and Oingo and Boingo should not be excluded.

Ok my take on the OVA is that itā€™s fine except idk why the prequel OVA (the second production in 2000) was one episode longer than the original 1993 production because its pacing ground out in a very avoidable way and hol horse just fell off like they didnā€™t know how to compact that story anyway, and in spite of all that it winds up developing Polnareff more than Jotaro? itā€™s like they only storyboarded 2/3 of it

Also both battle tendency and diamond is unbreakable are way better than stardust crusaders, I do not understand at all how stardust crusaders was the big breakout success

oh the 2000s OVA is trash and is exactly what people were describing the original OVA as

i definitely felt like the closer i got to the end of part 3, the more i wanted it to hurry up and end. i love jotaro but getting to the climax of that part was painful. i love part 2 because of the villains more so than because of joseph.
( iā€™m a ceasar stan. thatā€™s just how it is )

i thought joseph was annoying at first but by the end i was rooting for him.
no villian captured my heart like kars did though.

part 4 was my favorite until i read part 6. josuke is top tier and iā€™ve been repping him forever so i guess me saying that is no surprise. iā€™ve been thinking of rewatching the entire series again but what stops me every time is realizing that i have to go through part 3 again and i just. . .do not want to.

itā€™s not even that i think itā€™s bad! itā€™s just too long! too long!

i could always skip it and go straight to 4 but iā€™m not sure if my brain will allow this.

well this is just an excellent effort really

OK I have decided that the ideal stardust crusaders watch order is

2000 OVA episodes 1-3
david production episode 8-24
1993 OVA episodes 1-6

this keeps the personality and the pacing in balance, doesnā€™t create continuity issues, and maximizes the best of it

youā€™re welcome
