ANIMAL HARVEST

I hope Beardo never abandons me.

Feels like it - I had SHERB of all people say he was thinking of moving out yesterday. I went on my hands and knees and begged that weird son of a bastard to stay.

Meanwhile, Sylvia is still going strong, and I can’t remember the last time I talked to her.

Here’s the thing, though: those animal silhouettes get a spotlight of their own when one of your islanders comes over to it and poses beneath in the corresponding location. If anything, ACNH seems to be the first real instance of the games affirming the coequal sentience of animal people and allowing them to overtly coexist with e.g. quadruped frogs, hamster cages, etc. (To be clear, those things existed before, but the museum exhibit calls out and distinguishes in a way that feels new.)

Huh! I’ve never been inside the museum at the same time as one of the villagers so that’s something to look out for! That’ll teach me to read grim undertones in something that’s been pleasant as hell these two months.

I regret letting the elderly scarred up tough guy rhino leave. He had the best house and he was always talking about how old he was. I figured “I like him but maybe a new neighbor would be nice” but that’s fucking dumb, I’m probably gonna get another single mom who never even tells me her baby’s name

All of your villagers were scary hardass dudes. It was nuts.

I got a little spicy the other day when Billy, the jock goat, moved unbidden into my town from my wife’s town the same day that Rashers, the grizzled pig covered with scars, was at the campsite.

The way Orville types is my favorite thing.

This is a game of so many tiny, attentive details, and I genuinely love how much different little bits really reach out and resonate with different people.

I’m missing gyroids really bad and my japanese junkyard is hurting without rhythm accompaniment from these little guys in particular

In other news, I got a new villager, Caroline, and she is adorable:

Here she is fishing with Krankor, in Sherb’s sittin’ spot

And here’s her house, which is like… I think she’s a manga artist maybe??

Unrelated: Sherb continues to be cute as a button:

So @familyjules noticed @Mothra getting online and had me badger him into opening his gates for us, and a delightful time was had by all. Not pictured: numerous turtle guards, the Fish Matrix, or the seasonal migration of the flightless mannequin.

Man that is one extremely good basement design.

I’m trying hard to avoid artificially speeding up this game but I keep getting 4 old fossils a few days in a row so probably going to start nook mile island strip-mining again.
